Beauty-berry Flower to Fruit

This series is of the American Beauty-berry ( Callicarpa americana ) that I took this past summer. It is a colorful, native shrub that has both landscape and wildlife food potentials. It ranges mainly in the southern and eastern US. The flowers remind me of a "medusa" arrangement the way the anthers...

Re: How to make a controlled 1.5 micron pitch on NiSi 180/200 manual macro rails

I really like this idea. It would be nice if the flywheel could be an removable attachment. I have the NiSi 200s rail which allows a 360 degree swing and a button to quickly move the platform along the rail. It is not as smooth and sturdy as I thought it would be and maybe not so good for heavier le...

Re: An Aster Bloom

Very interesting long term flower study of this flower's life. A great rabbit hole that you fell into. The last 5x image has quite a fun abstract feel to it. Thanks, Brent. Looking at these plants closely and over time gives me a chance to recharge my botany. This one ended up improving my workflow...

Milkweed Flower

This is one of the Milkweeds (perennial) we've grown from seed for pollinators. I didnt save the package but believe it is Asclepias tuberosa or Butterfly Weed. It's a native species in the southern and eastern US but is fairly wide spread. The image was taken last summer with an R7 and EOS 100mm f2...

The image looks great, colors are nice and it is well composed! It would look nice as a framed picture. Nice work.

“ staminodes 5, spatulate-linear, 7-10 mm, stiffly erect.”

Looks like Rik nailed it.

An Aster Bloom

I started working on this little Aster in the summer when it was in flower and then followed it as it seeded. The closeup images were ok but found some noise when I went beyond 2x. Rik through Zerene helped me crush some gremlins in my workflow that improved the images, however, I had already delete...

Very nice, looks like there is a yellow winged-butterfly pattern on the dorsal part of the abdomen.
