Re: Looking for higher magnification and clearer pictures
I don't know anything about microscopes, but 24MP on such a small sensor will be incredibly hard to resolve on any optical system. the sensor height would be around 4.3mm, so we're looking at pixels around 0.9um in size. a camera with a bigger sensor should definitely help, however the downsize is ...

Re: Looking for higher magnification and clearer pictures
Thanks for the suggestion. I do eventually want get a nice macro lens but I will probably upgrade my camera first and I might not stick with Nikon so I don’t want to buy a lens just yet.Macro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 8:48 pm….Since you work with somewhat low magnification, the Laowa 2.5-5x is the go-to lens….

Looking for higher magnification and clearer pictures
Hi. I am need of some guidance. I currently am doing my focus stack photography using a stereo zoom microscope (PARCO – probably a rebranded AmScope) along with a 28MP industrial microscope camera. I am using an old Bausch & Lomb microscope body to move the subject up/down while taking photos using ...

Re: My setup - need some lighting advice
Okay, here are some pics of the modified Jansjo lights in action. Running them at about 2 amps with the three lights wired in parallel (the picture shows 1.2 amps because that was my first run through). As you can see on the monitor and the stacked picture the lighting level and color are much bette...

Re: My setup - need some lighting advice
Well, I modified the USB Jansjo lights today. Instead of ordering a set of COB leds I purchased a set of 5 penlights which use a Cree XP-E R3 chip. I was able to unscrew the top of the penlight containing the led, reflector, lens, and heat sink. Basically everything above the batteries. I then desol...

Nice! Mirrorless camera? Or doesn’t the sound of the shutter bother them?

Nice story and set of pictures Mark.
So I’m curious about how you recorded this drama. How far away was the camera from the wasp? I’m assuming you were sitting close by pressing a remote?

Re: good day to everyone!
Welcome Travis. I’m pretty new to this forum and hobby as well. I opted to go with a dissecting scope and photograph larger objects like insects. And though not as cold as your home, we have a few inches of snow blanketing the ground here in Michigan. Always nice to meet others without share an addi...
