My MacroScope Project

It has taken several months and I am still waiting for a few bits and pieces (specifically LED lights) to arrive via a slow boat from China but I have my Macroscope project 95% completed. MacroScope 2(1024).JPG Lest I waste space on the is board, I have created a PDF document that covers all the bit...

Re: Testing: Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 Macro Lens

Very interesting. This has been a lens of interest, since I would like to be able to easily go over 1:1. For applications on natural objects, the distortion would not be even noticeable, I expect. I like it. It is one of three I will keep in my camera bag ( well four if you include the world's ugli...

Testing: Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 Macro Lens

Finally cobble enough of my 'MacroScope' together to do some preliminary testing of the Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 Macro lens. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0847NN341 This is an excellent lens but note the slight barrel distortion. I did a sequence of 20 pictures using a MicroCalibration sli...

Re: I am getting Two New Microscopes

OK ... so I did a bit of testing with the Edmund microscope. I played a bit with Prime focus but was not impressed. I have WF5mm, WF10mm and WF20mm eyepieces that I tried with eyepiece projection to the A6000 sensor. THe WF5mm was a waste of time. The other two were a bit better. FYI: for the photog...

Re: I am getting Two New Microscopes

Well I finally got the Model 185 Microscope ... took two weeks from Chicago to Houston via USPS ... go figure. I can not use it or the stand  For posterity's sake because there is sol little information available: 1) It takes standard 23.2mm eyepieces (commonly available in 5X, 10X, 15X, 20X, 2...

Re: AmScope 4X Infinity Objective

sorry then I was on the wrong track, the finite Amscope 4x Robert was demonstrating is quite good. But in this magnification range the Laowo 2,5-5x lens might be worth to think about. Very flexible and optically also very good (even on full frame). If you buy it used you probably won't loose money ...

Re: AmScope 4X Infinity Objective

LewTwo, welcome aboard. Thank thee I notice in your other post that you mention "Novoflex M42/M39 bellows, extension tubes, several EL-Nikkor enlarger lense". You could get results that are similar to the objective, with more flexibility, by reversing a 50 mm EL Nikkor lens in front of bellows / ex...

AmScope 4X Infinity Objective

Before I found this forum and when I was too ignorant to know that it was not supposed work I tried something. I have a simple portable inspection microscope similar to this ( a few decades older ): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004E8W8WW I purchased an "AmScope PA4X-INF 4X Infinity Plan Achromatic Mic...
