Re: Raynox dcr150 custom tube lens

Thanks for all the feedback guys. So, I will be mounting the raynox reversed I will try to machine this thing with the flexibility of having distance between frontside of raynox and sensor that can be adjustable from let say 230mm to 140mm. And a fixed 50mm from backside of raynox to backside of obj...

Re: Raynox dcr150 custom tube lens

We need to know the size of your sensor to give you advice. The advice given above may not be correct for you. There is a tradeoff between center resolution and edge resolution; an arrangement that is best for center resolution is a good choice for smaller sensor like APS, but an arrangement that f...

Re: Raynox dcr150 custom tube lens

Instead of using a helicoid for distance A, I had the intension of machining 2 tubes sliding inside each other like a helicoid. If I make it 20cm and have +/- 2cm for fine adjustment, would that be enough ? and would you recommend that I mount the raynox150 reversed or not ? I would think that inst...

Re: Raynox dcr150 custom tube lens

Hi, Approximately A=20cm and B=5cm. But I change A (using helicoid), so that the camera with DCR is focused to infinity. My setup: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=39116&hilit=Raynox+on+Harley Best, ADi Thanks Adalbert, So distance B 5cm can be fixed. Instead of using a h...

Raynox dcr150 custom tube lens

Hello, I'm in the process of building a custom tube lens for a Raynox dcr-150 coupled to a Mitutoyo mplan 10x objective lens. I will be using aluminum tubing and a lathe for machining these fittings. Can you please indicate to me the optimum distances for this setup. (please refer to the attached di...

Re: Flies with Rodenstock Magnagon 5.6/75

RE- Cleaning specimens. You can swirl the specimens in acetone to clear off the dust. If you use alcohol, it will compromise the pigments. Example - if you use alcohol it will turn the yellow pigments in wasps black, whereas acetone will preserve the pigments. Plus, it dries faster. Mike Thanks for...

Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x

If you test your lens which seems to have the same problem please let me know how it performs Are you able to get that massive 180 euros of VAT partially refunded too? You paid $110 for the objective, 180 euros in customs is just plain robbery in this case. I will add in the [1] footnote late too, ...

Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x

As for this 10x, it's an Olympus, UIS2 objective! That said, I'm somewhat optimistic on the image quality, that 100x I bought with dots worked just fine, outperforming my achromat but trailing behind the Apo as expected. I have some free time, will test it and report back. If you test your lens whi...

Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x

Have you consider keeping this objective if significant partial refund is offered? I personally would ask for 50% refund and keep it. I am sure this objective is still a great performer even with those annoying spots. Just a thought. Was refunded 75% and kept the lens. We will see how it will perfo...

This is the picture that I attached for the return refund

Could this happen due to light intensity / temperature of the light passing through the objective?

Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x

A lens can delaminate without being used. One of the causes of lens delamination is manufacturing issues. Improper storage, exposure to some chemicals and their vapors are other possible causes. It is much more likely that the user stores it improperly rather then factory stores their manufactured ...

Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x

Return it. That's a spotting-like delamination on an internal doublet, sadly pretty typical of Mitutoyo "series 2" objectives. I've had at least two 20X with that issue, one of them was NOS/unused. Yep I suspected that it was not dust inside but a delamination issue. Delamination happens by use and...
