Great shot! That background is really appealing, it works well to bring out the detail in the leaf.
I like how it is just a little bit darker than the leaf on the left-hand side before it lightens up.

Re: Back in the field again! Weekend macros
All of the shots are great.
I really like the tortoise-shell beetle shot. The hole in the leaf next to the beetle adds a lot of interest to the photograph.

Fred the jumping spider
Normally I enjoy getting outside and shooting my subjects in their natural environment, but Fred was a different story. I had my eyes on Fred for a few weeks, I had been stalking him daily, and would find him every so often in the same general location. Unfortunately, it was in a place that was not ...

Re: Lots of pictures of insects
A very interesting collection. I really like that you describe each insect and its unique characteristics.
My favorite is the broad headed bug nymph, I never knew that these existed.

Moldy bees?
Moldy bee.jpg Moldy bee back view.jpg We have had a long rainy stretch of weather here lately and many of the insects haven't had a chance to get out and feed. Today the sun came out for the first time and there was a flurry of activity as everything emerged from their hideouts. I noticed that seve...

Re: Bee feeding on dandelion
Thank you for your comment. I am trying to figure out why my picture looks so strangely orange on this forum? Please forgive me as I am new to posting on forums but I am not sure what I did wrong. I have a calibrated monitor on my PC and the picture does not look like that. I have posted a full-size...
