Re: about Wild/leica photoeyepiece ?
Eye lens on the eyepiece seems too small for regular 10x/21, it must be 'P 10x/21'.

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=41908 Could this be an example of said phenomenon? It still puzzles me, I've never found a satisfactory answer. Looking at these pictures now (on the better monitor) I can see that D810 shots also have the same waviness - of exactly the sa...

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
sure, the point I was trying to make was that a 36MP bayer sensor not only falls short of resolving 36MP, but in some scenarios can introduce a huge amount of false detail. That's true, nobody says otherwise - it is possible. Though the problem seems to only appear on the ~1px details arranged in p...

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
Raw images look particulary bad because PPG demosaicing is used on the site. PPG algorithm is very fast and gives the sharp image, but very prone to colour moire artifacts. Because of that I've only used VNG4, but then few years ago I've tried AMAZE and it performs much better in terms of colour art...

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
I did plan on going longer to 300mm+ but from what I found in my recent 240mm tests, unless I find a Qioptiq tube lens, I'm not wasting my time pulling any HR objectives anytime soon. BTW Qioptiq does offer 400mm and 500mm tube lenses for the mag.x. Best, Robert Robert, did you consider or maybe tr...

Re: "Mystery" antique coloured filters perhaps for microscopy?
Just from the size they look like early colorimetric filters for use in photometers (ie original "kolorimeter" or later SpeKol by Carl Zeiss Jena) for chemical analysis.

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
Resolution is really a slippery subject. It may seem distinctive - take Rayleigh criterion for example, and here you go - when the gap between 2 maximums at 75% is the resolution limit. Everything is relatively easy until we don't touch the brightness and contrast (or bias & gain) concepts of digita...

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO HR 5X 0.21 Test Results
The moire effect of the rgb-bayer matrix may cause 'perceived fringing' in THEORY, however, I've never witnessed it in the real objects, it can only be observed when picturing gratings with a period about 1 pixel and only in certain orientations. To be fair, even in this case image still has to pass...

Re: Dichroic filter confusion
I think what Pau meant, is that you can still use this 475 nm beamsplitter in another cube, like very popular Alexa488 cube (aka Green Cube), implying you would source appropriate Exiter (i.e. 450BP20) and Emission (490LP) filters, and legit 400LP beamsplitter for your cube. Thankfully, this parts a...

Re: How good are alternatives (clones) to Mitutoyo lenses
Not bad. Not bad at all.
I would bargain with the seller to keep lenses in exchange for the requested amount, of course.
Not only because I would want to keep it, but just to be sure it's not the one and only qualification sample or expensive Mitu/EO/thorlabs lens with custom-made shell.

Re: Dichroic filter confusion
Thanks, Duke! Now I am simultaneously enlighted and confused in new ways! You say that your 400DCLP is colourless, but this one looks similarly yellow to mine, and Pau says that his is also yellow Sorry actually mine is 401DRLP new technology filter (aka RapidEdge filter), still should perform the ...

Re: Dichroic filter confusion
I have the 420ALP also - it colourless, as it should be. My setup is 420ALP emitter + 400DCLP BS + 410ASP exiter, to use 405nm laser and 365-400nm diodes. 400DCLP is colourless as well, while 410ASP is a mirror. I've tested all filters with the spectrophotometer, everything is corresponding to the d...

Re: 200mm Tube Lens Full Frame Test
IMG_20211024_132419.JPG Screenshot_20211024_132212.JPG Maybe, but I don't think costs is the most crucial factor here, rather than equipment specialization. My head comes from some special IR microscope if I remember correctly - there was a bunch of weird stuff like KNE-IR marked lenses. Maybe MXA2...

Re: 200mm Tube Lens Full Frame Test
That said, I got a Mitutoyo FS50 a while back and its performance puzzled me. It had a fixed 200mm tube lens, not the 1-2x zooming one, and IQ was fairly poor compared to my Nikon head. Just now I've came across Nikon MXA20696 on Robert's site: https://www.closeuphotography.com/nikon-mxa20696-tube-...

Re: Pentax camera body
But when I use the liveview on an external screen with HDMI with my Canon, the image brightens and darkens as I change the exposure and the overlay histogram shows that change. That's "exposure simulation" option in Canon. It's actually very limited in terms of exposure and amount of light on the s...
