I am also quite happy with Godox flashes but not with RF triggers (RF is working fine I think but I do not like the trigger unit). I like and often use optical triggering. Fuji has a great little flash that works without batteries, I wish Sony also has something similar so I do not need to use any c...

Yes, for the high NA as 0.75 or 0.95 I need 4 flashes with 1/128 power and zoom 200. Sometimes I have to go to the 1/64 but only in special cases (e.g. high NA and small WD). What is the pros and cons of having multiple (and also more than 2) flashes ? I guess it gives flexibility, and I assume syn...

I measured both t0.5 and t0.1 flash duration of V1, if you are interested to see: https://metebalci.com/blog/flash-duration-godox-v1/ I agree that 1/128 would not be sufficient with normal camera flashes, but maybe 2 or 3 of them would be enough. If not, that is exactly why I consider AD600. By the ...

Do you use 4 flashes to keep the power at 1/128 ?

Very good and expensive tripods can't match the stability of a dedicated setup where the camera/lens/rail are securely held with the same common structure as the subject. I should say, it is a bit confusing to think it is the best to have subject and camera on the same structure, since I guess the ...

Definitely a key insight, thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Mike, very helpful info. I think I will also consider sth. like AD400-600. Since you mentioned continuous light, I actually consider flash mainly because of additional effect of eliminating any vibration. I dont know how to quantify this, just for eliminating any potential vibration in a simp...

Rik, thanks for the detailed calculations, I was to ask where the px number is coming from. Since this px number is assumed to be equal to nyquist freq., it should be taken as a lower bound, is that right ?

I am using Fuji X-T2 (on zeiss stemi 508) without any camera adapter (1x). It covers a bit more than the intermediate image but the small darkish corners is acceptable for me. It can be tethered but to be honest I am not fan of using tethering, I basically use its HDMI output and use a camera releas...

And what about attaching the APS-C to a stereo trinocular microscope? which gives much lesser magnification than a compound. Will I get the same problems? (Stereo trinocular microscope like this one https://www.telescopeadapters.com/vmag2-diagram.jpg) Not an expert here, but I have -I guess- a mid-...

I did a test today and also I realized this is mentioned in the manual as over-temperature protection which increases the recycling time. So it is activated after 300 consecutive flashes at 1/16 power, (and 500 at 1/32, and 1000 at 1/64-128-256). The manual says to wait 10 mins to recover from this ...

flash for deep stack

Hello, I am using Godox V1 when I use a flash, and it is usually around 1/16 power. I am triggering it optically using a small flash on the camera hot shoe, it is pretty close so nothing blocking the optical sight. The normal recycle time of the flash in its spec. is 1.5s, and I am using 500ms ON, 1...

Great, looking forward to reading the post. I use polarization on stereo microscope so often, maybe unnecessarily too often, when I see the word polarization it always takes my attention.

Macro_Cosmos, are you using polarizers in your beam splitter setup ? I saw somewhere it is recommended, I want to know it is a very common thing or a must or just a recommendation.
