Re: How to Secure Underside of Velmex Unislide

Thanks Chris and Robert. Unscrewed the end block per Chris' suggestion. Worked of course and now unislide is secure to my rig.

How to Secure Underside of Velmex Unislide

I just bought a couple of used Velmex Unislides. These need to be secured to parts of my rig (specifically to a block of wood). The unislides obviously have holes on the bottom with a countersunk hole facing the top (as shown with the red arrow below). But I cannot figure out how to get the screw th...

Re: Embossed escutcheons on revenue stamps from the 18th and 19th Century

I am by no means an expert, but I think that the light reflections are what are playing tricks on our senses. That seems to be causing the mind to read the image as either convex or concave. The Tudor Rose looks convex when the reflections on each "ball" are at the top. That makes sense, because we ...

Re: Compare macro results from 2 different enlarger lenses.

I think you have the same issue that lothman mentioned. Your subject is not perfectly parallel to the camera sensor. As you can see in both images the top is in focus and the bottom is not. You should probably focus stack.

Re: My setup - need some lighting advice

Any suggestions for other lights I could try? Buy a bright LED flashlight and convert it to DC power instead of battery? Some other goosenecks you have had luck with? A particular COB LED and heatsink combo you like that is maybe just held in place with a gooseneck clamp? You can still buy the olde...

* I'll paint the pin black using water color [this helps to avoid reflection + allows me to quickly remove the pin from the final photo during post processing, as my background is also black. Compelling photos ayyappanm. You can also take thin black nails and glue the flat head of the nail to the b...

Thanks Lous. I have limited MFT equipment right now, but I can always try it again if I get another lens of even a TC.

Re: Raynox MSN-202 Test (on Olympus 60m Macro)

Lou - FYI that after doing tests with extension tubes I decided to return the MSN-202. The extension tubes made some difference, but the image is still wildly inconsistent across the frame. I guess one could invest in a TC but it seems you would be into diffraction territory. Also, the Oly TC is not...

This suggests that adding a teleconverter or extension tube might be excellent
Why is that? Because the projected center of the image becomes larger on the sensor? I can do another test with the 26m extension tubes.

Raynox MSN-202 Test (on Olympus 60m Macro)

Being an owner of an Olympus OM-D E-M5 II and Olympus 60mm Macro, I have found it interesting that some people add combinations of Raynoxes, teleconverters and extension tubes on the Oly 60mm to get magnifications up to 5x-10x and claim that the results are good. The huge benefit of this is being ab...

The last one is fantastic. The prickly plant is a great contrast against the smooth abdomen of the insect.
