Re: Canon DSLR discounts

When I finally got to upgrade our equipment at work a few years ago, I made sure we bought a 5dsr because of the high resolution, cancelling aa filter and since we already had Canon lenses, so I've been using it for a few years. 5ds and 5dsr have held their price for a very long time but has been on...

As far as I know, just using it as a still camera will not overheat it.

Re: Q: RAM and SSD PC upgrade for Photoshop stacking

You have a 2066-system with i7-7800x and that system uses 4 channels of DDR4, instead of "normal" 2 channels. You do have 8 ram slots on the motherboard right? The best thing would be to add 2 more identical DDR modules to the ones you already have, or buy 4 new modules if you want faster memory spe...

Re: Nikon SMZ800 repair manual?

I also just got a Nikon smz800 and when it arrived there was no image in the left tube. It uses mirrors in the microscope head, as a cost saving I guess, instead or real prisms and one of those lower sitting mirrors were loose. That part of the construction does not look very sturdy I must say, they...

Re: High NA 2.5x pushed to 5x VS 5x

I have a Mitutoyo QV 5x/0.28. Using it with a Canon 100mm macro as tube lens it vignettes hard in the corners, but using it as a 10x with Canon 70-200 at 200mm, there is only a slight vignetting similar to how the photos vignettes when I use a true Mitutoyo 5x/0.14. Since the QV also has the same NA...

Re: The Canon R5

Depending on lens, it has up to 8 steps combined stabilization. The lens IS and the ibis work together. You can read more about it at https://www.thephoblographer.com/2020/07/09/heres-how-the-ibis-system-in-the-canon-eos-r5-and-eos-r6-work/ Canon has made a nice presentation about what changes they'...

Re: Anatomy of a liquid CPU cooler

Usually when there is goo like that in the water cooling system it is due to plasticizers in the tubes that leaks. The plasticizers is what makes the tubes soft and bendy, but since this is a problem that has been known for some years there are tubes that are supposedly not leaking anything out in t...

If it is fungus and if it is on available pieces of glass, it migth be worth to try and clean it with hydrogen peroxide (3-6%) or that + ammonia. There is a lot of information on the net and youtube videos you can search for, like https://petapixel.com/2016/09/29/remove-fungus-lens/

I'm not a native speaker either, but if more help is needed let me know. I'm used to reading scientific reports and good at finding inconsistencies etc.

Either way, I am really looking forward to see the test.

I got mine from Taobao since I was buying the lens there at the same time. They are available on ebay too which is easier to buy from, f.x.: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lens-Adapter-Ring-V-M42-Suit-For-Schneider-Lens-V-Mount-Adapter-M42-Screw-Port/184258054342?hash=item2ae6a2c8c6:g:aWQAAOSw0yJemr1u htt...

So to follow up on the adapter for this lens, anyone have ideas about sources for actually compatible V-38 to M42 adapters? An order from Raf Camera 2 weeks ago hasn't shipped and the ETA Ebay suggests from Raf is late July if not beyond, so I assume adding another won't arrive anytime soon. I'm su...

Thanks for the link JKT, I didn't know about that shop before. Easier too for me that they are in the EU . Here we have to pay 25% tax on the value of the product and the shipping + a $10 fee for the customs declaration per shipment if it comes from outside the EU. Getting an adapter ring or two the...
