Re: Software question

VIP, take a look at Micom, from ScienceForAll, once calibrated it offers the sort of features you seem to be looking for. And I believe it is still free.

Rik, thanks for the valuable advice, Ill certainly explore the ideas you suggested using the kit I already have before venturing further. Thanks to Ichthyophthirius too, as it happens I do already have the Zeiss 2.5 but had not considered it, so I'll add that to my list of experiments now. Thanks ev...

Rik, thanks very much for the advice, and you are correct my primary interest area lies in the 1-4x region and my samples are rarely more than 25*25mm. I’m currently looking at the structure and composition of glass sponges with a BH2 microscope/DSLR and getting sufficient illumination to the subjec...

Thanks Scarodactyl for explaining the parfocal challenge. I'll search the forum to see what other objectives are being used.

Thanks Rik for posting the image and thanks Ichty for answering my questions. I think the objectives will be staying on the microscope!

Nikon 1 and 2x 160mm (black with silver knurling)

I'm considering launching into macro image stacking and wonder about the suitability of these 2 Nikon objectives. Will they serve me well? I use them now on my Olympus BHS with good results, even though I think they are fully compensated unlike my other Olympus objectives. I am finding it hard to lo...

Ichty, yes I am using a reducing lens, exactly the same as the one in the image that you attached. I'm testing it by connecting a 60Da using a Fotodiox C-EOS adapter but that camera suffers from shutter vibration and isn't a good choice for permanently mounting to the microscope for use in outreach....

APS-C Camera recommendations

My first post to this forum. Hello. I've been lucky enough to acquire a Zeiss (W.Germany) long TV tube (47-79-01-9901) with the C-mount adapter to attach to my Carl Zeiss Standard WL. Coupled to an APS-C camera it projects a full FOV to the camera sensor, ideal for when I will use it for outreach. T...
