[...] so maybe a manual focus 300/2.8 or even 400/2.8 with extension would work for you. Large-format enlarger lenses could also become useful, although not especially fast. 240, 300 and 360 mm f/5.6 to f/8 are not difficult to find on the second-hand market. They require a very long extension from...

A pair of good teleconverters can still give acceptable resolution. The Nikon 1.4x converter is superb. I'd go with that rather than the Sigma, just because I know it is great. I do not have experience with the Sigma. I am just not sure, if the Nikon Teleconverters are compatible with my sigma lens...

Could I use 2 sigma teleconverters (one 2x and one 1.4x) with my sigma lens? I am really just considering the Infinity optics solution, if we want to go to higher magnifications.

@dickb, I am exactly going that route with just trying a teleconverter. Maybe that will give me sufficiently large magnification. I will get it maybe Saturady or Monday. I also got a recommendation for higher magnification from Infinity Optics. They recommended: Model K2 DistaMax Single-Port Main Bo...

There is no way I can get closer with the lens to the subject (because of other optics being in the way). The problem with photolithography lenses is, that they are designed for one wavelength. I want to capture all wavelengths above 532nm (fluorescence as a result of the 532nm excitation), though.

I just bought the Sigma teleconverter since it was cheap and will see how it goes. I also contacted Infinity Photo optical and see, which one of their products they would suggest. Thank you so much for your recommendations. In fact this work will be published as part of my PhD thesis. That's the onl...

I am using Laser induced fluorescence as my measurement principle. That's why it is not as easy as just doubling the laser light intensity. But I will try changing/increasing illumination and re-calibrate the system.

Ok, so I am imaging microfluidic flows. My illumination source is a high speed laser and the camera I am using is the greyscale version (No color information needed - basically just how thick is the flow field). The front of the lens cannot be closer to the subject than about 200mm. I don't care too...

The problem is that I illuminate the subject with a high speed laser (and expanding optics) and although it is already high power $100k laser, I am struggling with image intensity. That's why I am wondering, if there is a better way to achieve higher magnification levels without sacrificing light. I...

Lens for increasing magnification on Photron Fastcam SA-X2

Hi, I am new to this forum and the reason I am here is that I need some advice on an experimental setup. The setup is as follows: I am using a Photron Fastcam SA-X2 right now in combination with a Sigma APO Macro DG HSM 150mm. With this setup I can achieve a 1:1 magnification. This is not good enoug...
