Re: is there an electronic handwheel for stepper driven rails
So more the U-DICR route, though I had no idea of that model number specifically and was swimming in a lack of knowledge on which nomarski sliders would be suitable or not. Again, the model number on an illuminator for the light path to check out is helpful/directive. I was looking at various nikon...

The only way to know this is to try out. There is no rule.

Re: Efficient diffuse macro lighting for SWD objectives
The MM-33 is from my beginner days, seeking better ways to manipulate diatoms. Three separate controls for x, y, z movement soon proved too cumbersome and slow, so it was "demoted" to coarse probe holder/positioner for a while. That is interesting, how does it compare to the Narishige units? I have...

Re: is there an electronic handwheel for stepper driven rails
Currently I'm using a controller from MKJZZ based on a raspberry pi with touch screen, see MKJZZ video here . But I'm afraid this route is dead end. Parts I ordered in begin of 2022 are no longer listed and emails to MKJZZ are not answered (hey Peter Lin and Daniel Puschina, are you still kicking?)...

Re: Question about Optiphot and infinity corrected objectives
You can make an adaptor to mount an infinity corrected trinocular head (or tube lens) onto the optiphot.
The frame is just a frame, it can be replaced with literally anything, a rod, a tower using Lego blocks, a pillar... you name it.

Re: Efficient diffuse macro lighting for SWD objectives
Using a Marzhauser MM-33 micromanipulator as the sample stage is one of the most diatomist things I have ever seen.

Re: State of high CRI COB lights in 2024? Current recs?
I have a single high CRI "sun mimicking" COB LED from an old project. The measured CRI was 99.8%. It was very expensive, $150 for a 7.2W job. It is dimmer than a halogen illuminator. The LED was from a custom order and worked quite well. 36V, 200mA, quite weird. I believe the person who designed it ...

Re: is there an electronic handwheel for stepper driven rails
a good idea, but can those devices also trigger the camera for stacking or do they only allow to moove the rail/microscope? Yes, but not without some fiddling. That is why I adapted the motor drive to my Wemacro which handles the photography aspect. If you already have the wemacro/stackshot etc. I ...

Re: is there an electronic handwheel for stepper driven rails
Expensive, yes. However, they often show up for bargain prices. I use the Prior personally, I adapted it to fit my Wemacro when I need to run focus stacks and I use the original console when I simply need to operate the microscope for routine examination. I got mine for a bargain price. My advice is...

Re: Loss of Robert OToole
Knowing his health issues, I am still shocked. Our last email exchange was on the 13th of March where he shared some information pertaining to a special order broadband Mitutoyo objective after that fiasco with the 10x HRs. That thread prompted me to write my very own post about shipping issues. I s...

- Prior ES10ZE - Prior optiscan/proscan - Marzhauser Tango series - Objective Imaging Oasis Blue The joysticks have a digipot. They all use two-phase stepper motors, you can easily adapt the motor to and from other systems, as long as you ensure that the current is within an acceptable range. Wemacr...

Re: BX41 focus assembly
Rotate the two fine focus dials in opposite directions, it will come off from one side. Pull it all the way out. You can then proceed to slightly lubricate the shaft and the wheels. If you are bothered, you can take the entire thing apart for deep cleaning. I have a PDF of the BX51 / BX52 Frame Repa...

Re: No sharpness when using mitutoyo 10x (also halo, low contrast)
I see no issue. My take is different, did you expect the far more expensive objective to completely blow your mind and impress you? You should expect the opposite, resolution looks about right for a 10x at such high NA and the contrast is lacking but it looks fine. Some quick slider pulling made it ...
