Re: Brood X Seventeen Year Cicadas
I have a soft spot for cicadas, so I can imagine seeing this famous hatch is really special. I like the "insect on its landscape" shots. It gives one an idea of what it's like to be there.

Re: Pair of butterflies
What a lovely photo! We have a species of Colias in South Africa that used to be very common. Now I only seem to see them a few times a year.

Thanks Mark. I had hoped to be able to spend a lot of time there while we were anticipating the isolation, but in the end the rules here have been a lot more strict than I had anticipated. My garden at my house is very small, but I have planted quite a lot of the right food plants and we don't use p...

Fun in the sun before the lockdown
Here are some pictures from my last trip up the Magaliesburg before the lockdown. Bright memories to help us through! http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/6547_P3210396cs_1.jpg http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/6547_P3210496cs_1.jpg http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/...

I really like these photos! I suspect that with normal techniques quite a few of them would have had quite distracting backgrounds. While not the answer to every situation, stacking is clearly a great tool with which to keep the whole of what you want sharp sharp, and isolate that from the backgroun...

Environmental butterfly photos
I hope the moderators will allow this first photo. I know it's not macro, but I certainly had to get closer for this shot than I normally do for my normal macro type shots. I have started to feel that one could get the impression from my pictures that I spend much of my time in lush, "tropical" plac...
