Re: Sony A7Rii USB Tethering

Finally had the time to get back to this, and greatly appreciate all the comments. Very helpful, but not exactly the solution I was looking for. After more research, and hacking into the StackShot shutter (only) cable, came up with this simple solution. The switch on 5 VDC+ works exactly as Jfiresto...

John

That is precisely what I had in mind! My thought was to put the switch on the shutter trigger terminal, but your suggestion of using the 5 VDC Bus pin makes much more sense.

Grateful for your advice! Thanks

Hi John You nailed it, yes, that is exactly the connector I am referring to, from the same supplier. I am looking for advice on building it, and am curious if it will perform correctly without damage to the camera. I dont expect any, and intend on adding a separate switch to prevent stackshot from s...

Sony A7Rii USB Tethering

Further to this topic, I'm dealing with some frustration having to switch USB plugs to download images after shooting a stack, actually, a lot of frustration - https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37482&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=a7rii Has anyone attempted to wire u...

Vignetting question

Hope one of you kind I have been working with a Nikkor 200 mm as the tube lens between Mitutoyo 10X and Nikon D810. I recently purchased a Raynox 150 and tried it with Nikon F mount extension tubes instead of the M42 threaded style and am getting heavy vignetting when shooting full frame. One image ...

Vanadinite

Vanadinite from the Pure Potential mine, Yuma County, AZ. Vertical FOV 2.4 mm. The nice red to yellow color zoning is very attractive. Image captured with Nikon D800, Vintage Nikkor 200 mm and Mitu 10X APO on a Stack Shot rail. LED lighting by Swarf Systems, reflected and diffused. Stacked with Zere...

Beautiful image Geopressure! The light blue material could be Chrysocolla or Hemimorphite, appears to have a light coating of drusy quartz over it. I have the same struggles as you with reflections, and have had some success with using reflected, diffused light instead of direct diffused. Curious to...

Thanks for the comments Hero. I have indeed been struggling with artifacts. I am happy to say that the flares from hot spots are mitigated with some help from Admin RJL and a new lighting system ( all reflected), but I still struggle with muddling in areas where there are multiple transparent crysta...

Thanks for you comments JH, the 200 mm Nikkor is focused at infinity. What is the length of the short tube you are using?

I am confused regarding your mention of a 30mm image circle. With the Mitu 10x, my full fov is just a bit over 3 mm.

Thanks

Paul

Thanks Hero. This image is a cropped section of a larger image that was quite deep, about 400 images. I use Zerene in the P mode

The results with the old Nikkor are ok. I do see a little vignetting but it is not a major issue since I usually crop. Overall, I am trying to generally improved the sharpness and clarity of the images. I have heard of many in the micro mineral microcosm using the Raynox and Bellows, hence, came to ...

Hi Rik and thank you. I had a look to see if I could relocate the post to the proper section without success, so I would greatly appreciate it. You help is always appreciated and with your previous assistance, I think I have the hot spots under control!
