Zeiss Jena objectives
Does anybody out there use a stand that takes the Zeiss Jena infinity objectives? They look like RMS thread, but I think must be a slightly different pitch. Some have been left in the estate of a friend. All Planachromats, the magnifications are; x2.5 0.045 x4 0.10 Pol x8 0.16 x10 0.20 x25 0.50 x50 ...

Re: Mitutoyo x5
Many thanks for the info folks, much appreciated.
With it's cap on, I think the chap who handed it to me thought it was an eyepiece.
I did wonder if it was finite or infinity.
Now I know, I will test it out over the next day our so.

Re: Unknown Vickers objective
Yes, most Vickers objectives require compensating eyepieces for best performance, and are 160 tube length.
If it was for metallurgical use that would be different.
Can I ask where the AA7602 number comes from, as in most of my literature things have a number preceded by an 'M' ?

Re: Moss chloroplasts and equisetum spores
I might pinch your first photo to illustrate chloroplasts in a biology powerpoint for school... ;, if you don't mind :). The equisetum spores would need a long off-curriculum lesson though; kids today leave school here at 18 with top grade biology without having heard of "alternation of generations...

Re: Sharpness of microscopic photos at 10x?
A little off-topic in relation to the question, but this moss is quite delightful, and worth looking closer, at higher magnifications, see;

Re: Few today's pieces of hoarfrost
When conditions are right, I get ice crystal patterns forming on the outside of my front windows. Not only does it need to be cold enough, but there needs to be moisture in the air, and it only happens on a few occasions during a cold spell. When I was growing up, the windows in my bedroom were sing...

Nikon Eclipse C-CU Universal Condenser and DIC literature
I have spent some searching online for a manual for the Nikon Universal Condenser, C-CU. Strangely, all I come up with is one for the similar D-CUD, which looks a little different. I wondered if anyone has an electronic version, or can point to a source for one for the C-CU. That or any literature o...

Re: Palomena prasina eggs and the hatched nymphs
Hello Mike The nymphs react to shock, they remain still. Between each picture of the stack series, I lightly tapped the surface with tweezers. In this way they remained calm. Kurt Hello Kurt thank you very much for your answer. So no movement between taps? It is our Autumn here in the UK, but I mus...

Re: Palomena prasina eggs and the hatched nymphs
Referring to the excellent shot of the newly hatched nymphs on their egg-cases, I wonder how you got so many shots for your stack without any of them moving?
