Hi bralex,

This looks good, but I feel it might be better to concentrate on a smaller number of crystals with higher mag. Have fun with your new setup!

Agate anatomy

A variety of interesting growth features are seen here. Dendritic filaments or tubes, hemispheres, and fortification banding. A few healed fractures thrown in. Quite an eco system for a rock...

Re: Wulfenite with "haystack" Mimetite

Thanks jurkovicovic and physicsmajor. Not sure I have any particular insight about cleaning specimens..ultrasonic cleaners are good but one must be careful since crystals can detach from the matrix at times. Naturally it helps to start with material that is fairly clean to begin with. I like to add ...

Wulfenite with "haystack" Mimetite

Wulfenite with "haystack" Mimetite on Quartz,
Rowley Mine, Maricopa Co, AZ

Stacked at 2X
FOV 1.0 cm

It's hard to beat the vibrant, gemmy Wulfenite from this mine. Interesting that the colors are so similar. A little larger than most micro minerals but I thought it deserved a shot...

These are very nice, though I agree that the out of focus foreground on the metatorbernite is distracting.

Great image and I love the spider's contrast with the Chrysocolla! Also enjoyed your lighting description.

Filaments in agate

These filaments are probably composed of an iron mineral..floating in solid, translucent silica. Sometimes called "moss". A curious form that most people don't associate with minerals.

I have been using the T7i for stacking with good results. No issues. Can't comment on the other models.
