Re: Silent Live View Nikon D850 Problem
Rik, I solved the problem by reading the D850 manual again. The silent live view has to be on mode 1. Then I can shoot in NEF at full resolution using any shutter speed. It is wonderful what a good night's sleep can do. Another question/comment: The D850 has an option to enter data for a non-chipped...

Re: Silent Live View Nikon D850 Problem
Rik,
Thanks for the response. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. When I posted I was tired and frustrated. Indeed, I am using a Cognisys Stackshot (I also have the Stopshot). Rather than ISO 30 I meant to say shutter speed of <1/30. I will follow up in the suggested forum.

Silent Live View Nikon D850 Problem
I am performing some stacking using Stopshot with my Nikon D850 and with an infinity focus microscope lens with a 200 mm tube lens. The setup is working well. The camera is set for NEF and I am using silent live view photography mode 1 to minimize shutter vibrations and shutter wear. Even though the...

Re: staining blood with giemsa
Sorry to hear that you have CLL. Fixation preserves and stabilizes the specimen prior to processing. For blood and bone marrow smears absolute methanol is generally used. For tissue biopsies formaldehyde is often used. For giemsa staining the smear is fixed in methanol and then placed in diluted gie...

Re: staining blood with giemsa
I am now retired but have had extensive experience in the hematology lab as a pathologist. Your blood smear is very poor. Too thick with extensive Rouleaux formation (stack of coins). To make a good smear you put a small drop of blood near one end of the slide and then use another slide to make the ...

Re: Wemacro Tube Assembly with Cognisys Quick Release Clamp
I’ve read about the raynox 150 as a tube Raynox 150 makes an excellent tube lens. See http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35350 for some discussion about how to make a tube assembly out I see that WeMacro now sells a Raynox tube lens assembly, https://www.wemacro.com/?product=rayn...

Re: DSLRs with full electronic shutter?
I am nearing the rated shutter life of my Canon 6D, and am starting to think about a replacement. Are there any DSLRs other than the Pentax K1 that have a full electronic shutter mode? It seems wasteful to me to use a mechanical shutter for macro work when most DSLRs are rated for <200,000 shots. A...

That looks more like an image if the gall bladder, not urinary bladder. The image shows columnar epithelium with a papillary pattern. The urinary bladder has transitional epithelium. Here is an image of human gall bladder from the Iowa Histopathology collection for comparison. http://www.photomacrog...

Re: Canon MPE 65 + Raynox MSN 202 or MPE plus Extension tube
Hello, For stacking purposes I am using the MPE till the 5x range. Beyond 5x I have recently started experimenting usage of MSN 202 over and above the MPE. As I understand raynox having its own optics, things look visibly hazy/blurry as when we see the MSN attached to a regular lens/macro lens. I h...

Re: Mitutoyo m planapo 10x with m25 thread?
I recently scored a mitty 10x on eBay for a good price. I already had an m25 objective adapter for my z16, and an m25 to m26 adapter, which allowed me to hook up a Hirox objective to it. Howevwr, when I got the mitutoyo in today I was surprised to find its threads were too small for the m26 adapter...

It doesn't depend which stacking software you use as such, it depends how you expose and align your images. The way to avoid it is to make sure the whole field of view you care about is included at both ends of the stack, when you set it up. As I understand things, when focusing by ring it is best ...

Bill, Many times I find the Japanese & Chinese manuals difficult to interpret (Yonguno is one of the worst), and Nikon is certainly not the best I've seen as with my prior cameras. So I generally do trial and error testing to find out how stuff works after reading the manual multiple times, then go...

Think I know why Nikon doesn't allow flash while in EFCS mode in Live View, or at least a reason to be cautious when using such. Since EFCS has no conventional shutters... I'm confused. My understanding is that EFCS = Electronic First Curtain Shutter, with the second curtain being mechanical as alw...
