Re: Olympus Projection Eyepieces turn apos into achros (not clickbait)

Viktor, excellent succinct test! Purchase justified I guess :-) There actually exists Nikon literature admitting the limitation in eyepiece design even in the CF era. Even admitting the shortcoming in eyepieces, they stay steadfast with their objective/tube lens corrections. FDAE27FC-79C6-4A77-A4D1-...

Re: Olympus Projection Eyepieces turn apos into achros (not clickbait)

How do they look when mag is normalized? I did digitally zoom in. The XApo is the clear winner but the SApo is not any worse. There are faint hints of green LoCA. Such targets are challenging anyway, the CA surely will not present itself with normal imaging. I meant, how would they look if the appa...

Re: BFP1 latch on the Olympus DIC slider(s)

How does the interference fringe look like in the BFP with either slider position?

Re: Article: Examining a "decentered" objective

Perhaps the adaptive optics path like Hubble? just kidding. There's a guy certified to do third party objective repairs for Nikon, not sure if he does Oly.. (wait, I think it's no longer Olympus, Evident Life Science... whatever.), but I see him doing insane repairs on about everything. https://twit...

Re: 20x ELWD for Nikon E200 for reflected light?

The TU plan ELWD 20x is much better at CA correction than it's LU counterpart probably due to it's use of a phase fresnel element. I'd recommend getting a TU if it's not price prohibitive. FYI, though both will work on a E200, the E200 head is only rated for a field number of 22mm.

Parfocal distance for the MM series is always 126mm.

Re: What the @&$% objective get

Lol, I’m sure you’ve seen the extreme spectrum of damaged objectives. The right one was NIB, the left with slight usage. I guess I was lucky with these:-)

Re: What the @&$% objective get

Great find! I wasn't aware of that label before.
btw, are these HR objectives reaching some kind of industry-wide end of life replacements? They're much more "affordable" than they used to be in numbers and price...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference between these two Nikon apos?

That silver PA20x is a CF series objective in production from 1976 to 1985. Pretty old, but good objective nonetheless. The black PA20x is a very recent finite objective made for a discrete slide scanner around 2013. It wasn't sold publicly and is rare. Excellent properties, but it lacks the spring ...

Re: Please help me identify this Olympus OEM 60x objective

No, "the outer shell".
The innards are probably Olympus.
I'm suggesting you got a poorly done Frankenobjektiv.

The outer shell of your lens is probably a lathed down shell of those Nikon OEM Illumina PA20x's.

Re: Please help me identify this Olympus OEM 60x objective

Perhaps its only me... but that outer shell on that "olympus" objective looks suspiciously Nikon... (Plus, you bought that for 5.7k USD??? My honest opinion, is you've been scammed. Who on the earth would wrap tin foil inside an objective to fit the outer shell?? That small screw on the case doesn't...

Re: 10x Objective with delamination testing

With regards to the 100x, I can't get a nice view with adequate illumination due to what appears to be an internal aperture that blocks out the transmitted light. That's why you oil oil immersion objectives! It's impossible to introduce light into an oil immersion objective at an greater angle than...
