Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
In that case, out of ten I could find or checked myself, seven didn't have the problem, three did. To me that's enough to conclude that it's not supposed to happen and it's a QC issue, but not enough to be sure of how significant it is (checking just ten isn't much, but 30% of that is very significa...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
Late update but everything's slow with the lock downs, etc.
The store replaced the lens and the new one doesn't creep. The focus ring doesn't seem to be more resistant than on the previous one.

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
Oh I guess bralex meant if any 4/3 lenses were checked for this issue in general? I've only tried the Laowa 100mm x2 lens and all "statistics" mentioned here are referring only to that specific model lens. I guess it might have sounded like it was gathered from various Laowa lenses. Thanks, importan...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
I was just looking at these for m4/3. By chance were any of the ones checked m4/3 format? Curious if that makes a difference. The mounts available for this lens are listed on the Venus website and they all seem to be full frame. It would fit as long as the 4/3 camera has one of those mounts, or may...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
So far I found eight of these, three have the issue, five don't. Not enough for very meaningful statistics... but a bad sign... The problematic ones include lothmans', mine and another new one that the person at the store checked to see if mine was a one off. I can't remember now if it moved in the ...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
Thanks. Not enough to have real statistics, but from the 5 I found, 2 have creep, 3 don't. I see a film of grease on the "internal hood" (for lack of a better way of calling it... maybe barrel support?), but I'm not even sure the lens is touching there. There are three "channels" that it seems to ri...

Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?
Hi I bought this lens a few days ago and there's a small problem of "focus creep". Basically the same as some zoom lenses with the zoom ("zoom creep"). When focusing to min focus distance and with the lens pointing up, it is slowly moving down (towards farther focus distance). The higher the angle i...

Re: Can I push the resolution of a 1:1 macro lens?
I've never tried a teleconverter, though I've heard that (with a good one) it's probably better than extension tubes... I have used extension tubes for a few years until I changed setup. Mostly a 105mm x1 lens with 27.5mm tube and/or a 52.5mm tube. I found "weird" results some times, so I asked abou...

Re: Reversed zoom lens technical questions
I definitely wouldn't get one of those (very?) expensive f/2.8 zooms with just the hope that it would be better. I would want to compare the specific lenses in a way that is meaningful to how I use them. For example, it's only when I printed at about A2 size that I noticed an issue with my extension...

Re: Reversed zoom lens technical questions
A larger aperture lens could be better if diffraction is an issue with your current setup...? At the cost of DOF. I guess it depends on the magnification and aperture you're using now. Re using different reversed lenses in general, it can definitely make a difference. I've only made one comparison, ...

Re: smaller sensor to use lower mag objectives?
Yes, same FoV, so I can use smaller magnification lenses (or a trade-off: a smaller magnification lens but not small enough to compensate for 100% so the FoV could go from 5mm to 4mm for example). In that case... Cropping a 42MP pixel to the FOV of the Pi camera would give only 1.4 MP, which is a b...

Re: Sony A7R with microscope lens
Thanks again everyone. Just an update. I did get the WeMacro setup. It's very good and everything seems well made and fits excellent (to nitpick... the ITL200 adapter is a little tight in the covered tubes because of a small overlap in the cover, can cut it, or use a non-covered tube for that area)....

Re: Sony A7R with microscope lens
Welp, sorry for hijacking your thread with my walls of text. This "less than standard" TL discussion really should be placed elsewhere. I meant in a good way :) When I bought my last lathe, I was already working on lathes for years, but I knew next to nothing about electrical stuff. Long story shor...

Re: Sony A7R with microscope lens
Thanks everyone. I was hoping to do this without knowing much about it :) A hopeless goal maybe... I just read a few hours (or days... who notices time at this point) on Robert Otoole's website. He has some examples of why Thorlab's suggestion for mounting the ITL200 is wrong and also that with some...

Re: Sony A7R with microscope lens
Well I would like to use some old manual Nikon lenses (not for macro), definitely a 400mm and possibly 300mm and 200mm too. I'll get the adapter anyway, since I'm not going to buy any new AF 200mm+ lenses. For the tube lens, I found one person who compared a Raynox 150 with a Nikon 200mm lens (the Q...
