Thanks Charlie, I'm not sure how serious they (the person who asked the question) are in obtaining correct sperm counts or if they have any idea of the requirements. They may only wish to see if there are a sufficient number of 'contenders' in the sample? Equipment requirements will be determined by...

A question for microscopists

What type of microscope would be suitable for stallion semen sperm counting? seriously I was asked this question today, did some Google searching and found a number of approaches, most of which use various configerations .i.e. heating platforms, etc. Can the same process be accomplished using a stan...

Notice the 'red' eyes in this image and the red 'spots' in the earlier images of the 'eggs'. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/use...

It appears that Betty is correct. The bug is still shielding the eggs 24hrs later. It became rather protective of the eggs as I attempted to position the lense; so yes Rik, it does appear to be "standing guard"; but I have read that 'eggs, larvae or adults of other invertebrates' also form part of i...

The dial with numbers on it should have some small holes on the dial close to where it meets the actual block. *Later note: The more I read your initial post, the more mysterious this pro...

Breezy day, on-board flash diffused with Nikon SU-4 diffuser. Host plant - Gardenia (underside of leaf) Image 1 and 2 rotated 90° CW Nikon D100, Micro Nikkor 3.5/55mm and PK13 extension ring. ISO was set to 800 - hence the 'noise' - unintentional/ oops! http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/...

I posted this here because the article I read in this morning's paper reminded me of Laurie's image. For those who are in the vicinity of the Macleay Museum at The University of Sydney it might be worth a visit between 01 August 2008 – 01 February 2009 for the Small Matters: Exploring The World Of M...
