Re: FS: Olympus LUCPlanFL N 20X and 40X
Thanks for pointing that out. From the limited information I found online, the working distances are as follows:
20x: 6.4 mm - 7.6 mm
40x: 2.7 mm - 4 mm (another source put it at 3.0 mm - 4.2 mm)
20x: 6.4 mm - 7.6 mm
40x: 2.7 mm - 4 mm (another source put it at 3.0 mm - 4.2 mm)

TILL Photonics - Polychrome V monochromator (SOLD)
TILL Photonics - Polychrome V monochromator About 10 years old, but as far as I know was rarely - if ever - used (and looks the part). Comes with about 6ft of fiber and an extra Xenon lamp. This puts out intense UV, so heed the warning labels! Not looking to get rich off it, but would be nice, if it...

Alternatives to Equipement Exchange or eBay?
Sometimes selling stuff through the Equipment Exchange here is - not unexpectedly - a bit hit and miss. Then there's eBay, but the fees are ridiculous. Does anyone know of other sites with an audience that might be interested in microscopy-related gear?

Re: Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) -- a drying aid
Very interesting method. How easy is HMDS to come by for the average citizen? Are you going to try this soon? If modification of surface OH groups is indeed involved (there should be plenty on chitin), did you find any references as to how other silylation reagents (such as BSA or BSTFA) might perfo...

Re: software for adding photos
Another free option is Hugin (interface is somewhat similar to PTGui). I believe, it supports the stitching mode where the camera follows a translational movement (there's a name for it, which escapes me right now) instead of being rotated around the no-parallax-point. If not, that can be approximat...

Re: Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
Thanks, Beatsy! Appreciate the input from the Master of Light. I could probably live or work around most of these drawbacks, but I didn't think about not being able to use my electronic shutter. Here and there also something I could live with, but probably not something I want to do on a permanent b...

Re: Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
Thanks! This sounds very encouraging. I'll certainly give it a try once I get the AD200.

Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
I recently started to acquire some light stands and softboxes for still live-type of photography. Since my speedlights are a bit on the anemic side for this, I have my eyes on a Godox AD200 strobe. Then I started to wonder, if I could also use this for lighting my focus stacks (I currently use Lume ...
