Minolta 5400: normal or reversed

It would be good to have a summary of the best options when using the Minolta 5400:

1. Magnification range

2. Orientation at different mags

Re: Nikon Small World eligible lenses

Does this exclude the 5400 and Canon lenses?

Nikon Small World eligible lenses

Looking through the forum it appears that microscope objectives mounted on bellows on a home-made rail qualify to be used in Nikon Small World competition.

I am using a microscope stage and condenser.

What is the situation regarding using:

1. Minolta 5400 on the bellows

2. Canon 35mm bellows lens

I use FF Nikon D810 and Z6 shooting wildlife so edges are not that important.

Re: Canon MP 35mm and/or Minolta 5400

I have just tried the 5400 on my Z6 shooting ProRes Raw video with a Ninja V which gives a bit of crop from the full frame.

No vignetting so far!

Re: Canon MP 35mm and/or Minolta 5400

I have read Robert's excellent reviews at 2x and 3x.

I am considering a wider range of magnifications from 1x (at which the 5400 was designed) up to whatever either can usefully be deployed at.

Canon MP 35mm and/or Minolta 5400

I have a Canon MP 35mm and have just bought a Minolta 5400.

What magnification ranges would you use them if they are complimentary?

Or does the Minolta trump the Canon at all mags?

Ultraphot mirror changer

The black knob that that rotates to move the mirrors around inside the microscope is loose and I cannot get it to tighten using the set screw. I've unscrewed this screw so that it is loose and the knob spins freely but the knob won't come off. I've tired prising it off the shaft but this just snappe...

Re: Trinamic parameter tuning

Can the Stallguard value be found by starting low so that the motor stalls and then increasing the vale until it moves? I think I've found that the behaviour is different depending on whether you are going clockwise or anticlockwise!

Trinamic parameter tuning

I have 6 Trinamic TOS-100 boards with TMC260 motor chips driving a 6 axis system with an Arduino Mega that has different size stepper motors handling different loads. I want to tune the following parameters for each one: 1. Stall Guard railStepper.setStallGuardThreshold(threshold, filter) 2. railSte...

I have found that anything bigger than a single die doesn't add any more light on a Zeiss microscope (Ultraphot and Univeral 16) and already fills the field.

Yes, single die Charles. I've used a variety of CREE LEDs and just wondered if anyone had discovered and tested any of the latest ones.
