Re: Cleanest microscope slides for D/F microscopy
best technique for cleaning microscope slides for spotless Dark Field imaging? Hi, For cleaning at home or in a lab? Some techniques are too dangerous to do without the necessary knowledge and PPE, but there are alternatives for doing it at home. Basically, mild alkali or acid + ultrasonic bath str...

Re: Anyone had any experience with LM Microscope camera adapters?
It seems that your objectives are are Nikon CF type, are they? If so they are "fully corrected" -this just means that they don't need chromatic aberration corrections of their primary image done at the eyepiece (or tube lens in infinite systems)- not that they have the best correction. If you use C...

Anyone had any experience with LM Microscope camera adapters?
Photo adapters and tubes - Anyone have experience with LM Microscope adapters? https://www.lmscope.com/en/produkte_en.html Their full frame adapter seems to put the camera much closer to the trinocular head than mine, but it's not super clear from looking at their website. If I can get the camera cl...

I had the same problem with low magnification IMG_2130-web685x950U100-G14.jpg Thanks - would be great to know what this is called so I can search for it Aha! C-CEL expander lens oh no that's not it

Re: Even DF illumination for 4x objective
Anyone got any advice on how to get great DF on a 4X objective that evenly illuminates the whole field? I have a Nikon Optiphot, but I have heard that some Olympus condensers are easy to adapt to the Nikon dovetail for the substage condenser, and that the olympus condensers have a filter tray for a...

Re: Even DF illumination for 4x objective
I have a PC turret condenser, but it does not cover 4X Can you remove the condenser upper lens? With my Zeiss condensers it is needed anyway for 4X and less. Some models allow to switch it out and others to unscrew it. Abbe condensers usually cover the 4X with the upper lens although with some mode...

Re: Even DF illumination for 4x objective
DF with a 4X usually is easy, you don't need a dedicated DF condenser if you can place a stop at the right position in an ordinary BF condenser of using a Phase Contrast ring for higher NA objectives as Alan does. Dedicated DF condensers are designed for high NA objectives where DF stops on BF cond...

Re: Even DF illumination for 4x objective
The Olympus condenser dovetail is slightly bigger than the Nikon one. It is definitely possible to use Nikon condensers on Olympus microscopes; I used a Nikon dark-ground condenser on my BH-2 until I found a cheap Olympus one. It may not be possible to use Olympus condensers on Nikon microscopes, I...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference between these two Nikon apos?
You might find that you get better results anyway even with necessary cropping, though my copy of the 2.5x pl eyepiece may have been particularly bad. Some of the heads (particularly the UW head) also establish an area of infinity focus within themselves, so you could actually replace the ~105mm tu...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference between these two Nikon apos?
Higher end nikon objectives from the finite era needed to be able to cover ultra widefield eyepieces with a field number of 26.5mm, so they tend to cover aps-c pretty well. A 2.5x eyepiece by contrast will have a field number around 20mm (someone probably has the right number on hand) and in my own...
