Re: Germlings and marine things.

Marine plankton always fascinates to me to no end, and these are splendid images, thank you for posting them. I totally agree with Dr Berdan: your darkfield really makes them pop. I particularly love the Mysid 'shrimp', with the pair of statocysts clearly visible in its tail. The head closeup is out...

I simply never get tired of Charles Krebs images, and this set is especially delightful. The living forams in particular are absolutely fascinating. The Puget Sound diatoms are always presented so wonderfully. Superb, bravo!

Wonder what it measures? (Guessing around less than 20 um) Especially cool to show the pond it came out of, also very fun to visit Parque Rodo in Montevideo via the miracle of Google Maps. Nicely put together Carlos, gracias amigo . EDIT: After Carlos' reply, I look again and see the scale bar in th...

Your language is as clear as your images. :D I have quite a few slides prepared by Michel Haak, and know well how crisp and clean they can be. I also use Pleurax from him for my own slides.

I always particularly appreciate Anne's diatom images, and this set is certainly no exception. I can't quite recall if I ever commented on your postings before, Anne, so I'll be sure to do so now: your images are always so perfectly brilliant, and these are certainly no exception. Bravo!

PS: And congrats of finally landing a Trichodina

Impressive pix, and excellent info, thanks! Are you a vet, or doing this for a vet, per chance? Be interesting to know what drove you to making such fine portraits of these wee villains (another old country boy here).

Beautiful! Bravo! Can't wait for the other 103, lol... Auliscus sculptus has long been one of my favorite diatoms too. Hope you won't mind if I say why, because it involves an important lesson I learned. Some years back a friend who moved away did me the favor of sending a sand sample from his new F...
