ID help, scale insects?
I've thought things were scale insects before and been wrong, so I'm not at all sure about these. Yep the software should take this into account. Certainly Zerene does. One thing to watch out for - either start off at the back, or check your back/front framing before starting and ensure you have a bit of space on the tightest shots, as those may be cropped slightly to compensate for the framing ...

Another thing to consider, I've had quite a few people say to me words to the effect that my pictures have made them Think about insects in a rather different way. You should definitely try that, open up the telephoto rear lens and stop down the reversed 50, f5.6 or even a whisker higher f-stop is probably a good starting point for this sort of magnification. For more magnification open up the front lens even more, although be aware if it's a standard 50 it pr...

Lace Bug (Tingidae)
I've not been shooting much lately but I had to dust off the rig for this little fella that landed on my phone last night while I was chilling in the garden. I've never seen one of these before, in many hours, days, weeks of bug hunting, then one lands on my phone..... http://www.photomacrography.ne...

Hmm, doesn't bode well. You've always been able to enter earlier than this before iirc. I hope it carries on, looking at the numbers here, if I could squeeze two more images into the finals I could theoretically move up from equal 16th to equal 9th in terms of total images through to the finals! :) ...

I'm not gonna lie, I have a picture in the final stage and I'd really appreciate your votes, but I don't expect you to vote for my picture if you think another one is better! Please go check out the finalists
