Hi Ray, among more than 200 enlarger / photoscanner / machine vision / photoprinter lenses tested for MTF resolution and CA, I had couple of photocopier lenses on test with very different performances. But they did share few common characteristics: they all have pretty long focal lengths, mostly bet...

Keep in mind Russians are currently not allowed to leave home so even if you find some on Ebay, the seller won't be able to ship. I managed to buy an objective from Russia just before the lockdown and it was sent but it's stuck somewhere along the way, no tracking service is able to discover it's wh...

But majority of scanner lenses (Coolscan 8000 included) perform better when just extended. And their magnification sweet ...

I'm glad I could help. Based on original datasheet I found on the web, I was foolish enough to believe that 420 lp/mm declared resolution is close to truth. We'll probably never know was it designer's wishful thinking or just sample to sample variation issue!

Best,

Antonio, I'm using Nikon MPlan 40x 0.50 ELWD and setting my DIY rail at 1.25 um for this objective since that is default full step for my rail. It seems just about right. However, Kurt from Switzerland used 0.5 um step with his wonderful Odysseus butterfly wing scales stack using the very same objec...

Black troika test drive

After Lomo 3.7x 0.11 and Zeiss 6.3x 0.16 Semiplan objectives were discovered as fine performing objectives for photomacrography, I have measured their MTF resolution and CA, confirming above average performance. Even before that I was wondering are there other exceptional lenses and objectives manuf...
