Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
That Nikon 60x 0.95 is really impressive, Soki. I need to test my 60x 0.90 more carefully to see what I can get it can do. I never really expected it to produce such good images; I simply assumed that it would always be better to use immersion objectives for those kinds of subjects. I tried to take ...

Were you thinking about these measurements? It's the only quantitative measurements I've been able to find. Would love to see more data like it.

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
Interesting to hear about the Olympus/Lomo match! I've never seen any data on the LCA of Olympus SB objectives. Where did you find this information? Do you know how similar the SB and LB objectives are to each other? They say that FK and NFK eyepieces aren't interchangeable. But I've briefly tried ...

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
Now thats comprehensible. There seem to be some Olympus Vanox with DIC for sale out there, because they were probably used often with DIC. This DIC looks really awesome, especially in combination with SPlanapos. Congrats for the great deals! The prices for these lenses are really low. The standard ...

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
Oddly enough, I am moving to the Olympus short-barrel PlanApos. I've come the opposite way :), well, almost. Old JIS Olympus Plan objectives was the first "imported" objectives for me (eastern bloc LOMO/Zeiss/PZO/Meopta etc. doesn't count), and I did like them. Some photos using LOMO MFN-11 trinocu...

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
Yup, Alan Wood's site is such a treasure trove. The most complete catalogue of SB objectives is this one:

They are said to be corrected up to a field number of 29mm! Would be cool to find a UW head for my Vanox...

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
Hey guys, It seems like I'm moving away from Nikon CF after equipping my Olympus Vanox with PlanApos, but if I had continued to invest in Nikon I would definitely had bought a 60x 1.40 planapo. My impression is that there has been more of those on the market over the last year or so, for quite dece...

Re: Nikon CFN Fluor / Planapo 100 160/0.17
I agree with PeteM. While I haven't tried the 100x's, I can't imagine the difference being very noticable. All the Nikon CF (non-plan) Fluors I own are really excellent (10x 0.50, 20x 0.75, 40x 0.85, 40x 1.30). The 40x 0.85 is perhaps the weakest link, as it does seem to be a slight step behind the ...

Re: MAG.X 8X / 0.32 LD PLAN APOCHROMATIC OBJECTIVE
Haven't read your test in detail yet, but in the last picture you posted here I definitely prefer the right-hand image. Sharper, as you say. But I'm also seeing quite a bit of purple fringing on the long bright lines in the section above the numbering on the left-hand image? These lines are very cle...

Cleanliness of Zeiss 1.5H cover slips
Inspired by the recent thread on glass slide cleanliness I was interested to hear about people's experiences with Zeiss 1.5H high precision cover slips. I stumbled upon a great deal for a large amount of these, and picked up all that the seller had. They all came came in original zip lock bags. I've...

Re: Anyone knows the Nikon CFW10x M frame reticle?
Yes, it is quite easy to do, I've done it on a couple of CF10xM eyepieces. The nice thing is the the bottom lens is usually really clean when you remove it. :D To get it out, you need to loosen the retaining ring at the bottom of the upper, rotating part. This will allow you to unscrew the two halve...

Re: Nikon CFW & CFWN eyepieces->Difference?
But there are also some generic Chinese 10x/22 eyepieces that perform really well with Nikon CF objectives. Do you still have a note of the source or the generic description to hand please? Thanks John Here you go: http://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10094 And here: h...

Re: Nikon CFW & CFWN eyepieces->Difference?
Eyepieces need to be corrected for many different abberrations in order to be optically 'neutral'...
