Re: Reichert METAPLAN microscope

That to me looks like a metaplan set up for Epi DIC. It has no cover glass EPI objectives, and I believe that the thing on the nosepiece is the DIC prism holder. I don't think that it even has transmitted light capabilities. Looks like a very cool microscope, and the plan fluor objectives are likely...

One last objective  I try to learn new things as you give me more advises I think this one has a good WD and A good NA, but the price is warily low... https://www.ebay.com/itm/SPI-40-LWD-Microscope-Objective-40x-0-65-NA-Southern-Precision-Instruments-/123386050096?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l492...

Re: Looking for complete BH2 "UCD" DIC set

Has anyone tried this DIC set up on BH? https://www.dealcorner.com/Olympus-Microscopes/Originals/BHMnomarki.jpg Best, John Why are you asking? You are aware that it's an epi DIC unit? Retro fitted with a fiber optic led illuminator. Should be fine if you want to do typical epi DIC stuff, like wafer...

Re: 40-60 X Objective lens

If you check http://www.krebsmicro.com/mplan.pdf you'll see that the 40x 0.65 M plan has a working distance of 1mm, which is uncomfortably short.

Re: MycoCam5 any users please?

Just for your information, the maker of Mycocam, Richard Shotbolt, passed away in March. He was a prominent figure in British Mycological circles.

So it might be a bit tricky to find someone to ask if it's a serious software issue.

Re: Suggestions for clamping a camera to scope for afocal

In place of the Zeiss and dovetail adapter at my setup you can use other parts like: - The old Ihagee Exakta seems very nice (although I don't understand well how its clamps over the tube) https://www.ebay.com/itm/tubus-adapter-to-m40-microscope-dovetail-ring-Ihagee-Exakta-Zeiss-Jena-40/29259246680...

Forgot to say that these polycarb. bits are available at least in clear, smoked and very dark. I was referring to the first ones.
Thanks for the suggestion, that's a cheap and easily accesible source of polycarbonate for sure!

Re: Out, out ##### spots!

I find that ROR is terrible if that's all you use. It evaporates very slowly and does not dry cleanly. I can't really see anyone using it as their only cleaning fluid. But it is pretty good at getting off stubborn gunk. Like Chris, I use it for tough jobs. But I always finish off with petroleum ethe...

Surely that is a finite Nikon CF objective which should be used with a 150mm empty tube. See:

Re: Nikon Small World 2020

Loads of wonderful images. Confocal seems to get the most love. Very few DIC images among the winners. Is the more subtle "DIC look" on the way out in favor of the black&colorful? I wonder if they are getting fewer DIC submissions or if the judges simply prefer the confocal aesthetics? Maybe we will...

Re: Nikon Scanner ED lens

Yes, $300 is still a very good price. Several have sold for $450, and some remain at that price on eBay, so that is probably close to the supply-demand equilibrium point right now. Even that is pretty good considering the optical quality of these lenses, compared to a $450 consumer lens... I'm prett...

Re: Lomo 1.7X projective photoeyepiece

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402320510838 I just came across this listing for a full set. There are some lenses in the adapter, and I wonder if they are essential for image quality. Yup, there's the 3x eyepiece I have but never figured out how to use. (The Lomo water immersion phase objective I got at ...

I just tested the orange acrylic with my Nichia Convoy S2+ UV flashlight on a piece of white printer paper.
