equipment sources

I would like to start taking pictures with my Olympus BH-2 with Trinocular head and after reading articles it looks like I will need an Olympus eyepiece adapter PM-ADF, eyepiece NFK 2.5x, camera adapter L, Lens adapter OM/EOS (for canon camera). However, despite researching eBay and the internet in ...

rayox on to macro lens

Can I attach via step down/up rings my rayox 150 to my 80 mm macro lens to get added magnification? If yes, do I mount the rayox normal way or in reverse mode?

help with technique

http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/3182_BeeEye1_0119_HP_web_2.jpg this is a stacked image using a 10x Mitutoyo objective. I used a single Godox SK300 strobe with a diffuser hood. Is the white band over the eye from too much light? also there appears to be fogginess at bottom left. Is thi...

moving a mechanical stage in vertical direction

I have my camera and stackshot set up in a horizontal position. If I want to incorporate a microscope stage to cover the xy range for my subject how have others solved how to vertically change the position of the stage?

Two questions re extension tube

I built an extension tube setup with adapters and tubes following fairly closely the recommendations elsewhere in this forum. I am using a APS-C camera and 10x mitutoyo infinity focused objective. 1) the extension set up is about 200 mm long mimicing what I saw in the forum. Since the microscope obj...

I am missing something. I am determining magnification to put in to a formula or calculator to determine # of steps required for my stackshot. But the method outlined throughout this post is taking in to account the two dimensional accept of the subject and not the depth of the subject which is the ...

So if I have a flower petal which is 10 mm x 5 mm and it just fills my sensor in its longitudinal dimension--then 23.6 would be my numerator and 10 mm my denominator? If correct, then if the subject does not completely fill the sensor, you have to do a bit of estimating regarding how many mm of the ...

determining magnification for use in DOF calculation

I know that magnification is determined by "sensor size/subject size"
I have an APS-C sensor with size of 23.6 x 15.6 mm. Do I use an average of these 2 dimensions to plug in to the equation or just the smaller of the two sides?

Use of flash in regards to vibration

At the recommendation of forum member mawyatt I purchased a Godox SK300II flash to use with my extension tube/Mutotoyo objective. Previously I had been concerned about vibration causing blurring of the images. I notice on the B&H site where I purchased the flash, that the flash duration is 1/800-1/2...

Thanks very helpful. Fortunately my budget is flexible. I notice on the Adorama site that Flashpoint comes in different powers, the more powerful being more expensive. Should I get the more powerful version or are the weaker ones adequate for this type of work? Also do you use a diffuser or bounce t...

flash recomendations

I would like to order a flash or pair of flashes for my camera/extension tube/microscope objective system. I read about Godox as being good quality and reasonably priced. Any specific models you would recommend in view of having to take a series of stacked shots six seconds apart (to allow settling)...

Enrico Savazzi's Photography for digital images book

Sorry if this is not the right place in the forum.

I was thinking of ordering this book by Savazzi and notice it was published in 2011. I am sure it is still relevant but are there more current books which would be better to purchase?
