Re: Lichen propagules

Wow. Nice series. Makes me want our two feet of snow to melt faster! We have many patches of moss, lichen and such right in the yard.

Re: 2nd try stacking with... Kalanchoe?

good to see some color during these gloomy winter days. For more flower subjects, you might consider flowers from your local floral source, grocery or florist. You might even consider asking a florist for some blossom discards, since you don't really need a stem for holding your flower for photos, i...

Re: Popcorn salt on a penny

You don't need a supersaturated solution. Just dissolve as much as you can at room temperature, decant from any remaining crystals and let it slowly evaporate. This works with a number of kitchen ingredients, including sugar, tartaric acid, alum (a classic...) and MSG. Back to photography, great, in...

Re: Zinnia

Does the Canon EOS utility work with your model? Back when I had a Canon 70D, I used it to manually do stacks in a controlled fashion. Later I moved to an app which automated the process but that was a few years ago, and on a previous computer. I had good results using internal focusing of the 100mm...

Nice! Especially the second one.

Care to describe how you did the photos? Equipment? Stacking?

Lovely shot of a part of nature often overlooked. The color contrasts are remarkable.

Great Photo.

Re: knobs for 2 mm square shaft

Why not try a potentiometer knob, one with a decent set screw? They're for a 6 mm shaft with a flat where the set screw pinches. It might not be elegant, but I suspect it would fit fine, maybe with a longer set screw?

Re: Video Editing

Video editors? There are as many opinions regarding what editor to use as there are opinions regarding what brand and model of camera to buy! I've been doing (a poor job of...) video editing for about 20 years, using a variety of editing programs. I think it more important to just get started, focus...

Re: electronic shutter and flash

I've been stacking with the m6ii for several years now. Not sure why you'd want to use flash, and it's tricky with electronic shutter anyway - this has been discussed extensively elsewhere. I use a tripod for my stacks, and have had great results shooting static subjects outdoors (mushrooms) at shut...

T1i? How interesting....
Interesting photos, though, and a good example of how you don't need the latest/greatest to get good photos, especially under controlled conditions.

Re: What about that fresnel lens on your camera flash?

To be a true fresnel lens the single grooves must have the shape of cirkular part of a lens surface. This is apparently not the case here. Parts of the groves are just straight lines. I doubt this surface wil be able to focus anything at all. The center square has a completely different structure. ...
