I have used the XHP70 (12V) very successfully as a bulb replacement for a goose neck light source. It needs lots of heat dissipation but with a 4sq in heat sink it works nicely. The idea of using it as light bulb replacement for a Zeiss Standard Fluorescense microscope attachment light source is int...

Very nice pic! Do you guys think the Proshift+ functionality can be replicated with the shift function of the Nikon PB-4 bellows? (for this particular application)

I built a FO illuminator with a 100W LED source. My experience: Heat IS AN ISSUE!! I tried several options to get the light into the entrance pupil of the FO conductor. I tried directly shoning the LED into the FO guide. I tried to diffuse the light with a spherical diffuser, and I tried diffusing t...

Zeiss illuminator conversion

I bought this illuminator for a good price. Originally it came with the socket for an arc bulb but without the bulb or power supply. So I proceeded to modify it to accept G6.35 bulbs. I got the bulb base installed at a height that more or less centers the bulb filament with the illuminator's parabol...

Hello...first time poster long time leecher (of knowledge).... I am almost done with building my setup and as a first test I tried the only insect I could find in my backyard (I live in Canada and the summer here is still to show up)...an ant!
