Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
Olympus' elite/premium/extra/super tech support -- onto whom my case was transferred after the NJ facility did not appear to have the slightest idea of how macro photography works -- have, after 3 weeks, determined that the problem is due to my finger creating motion blur when contacting the shutter...

uploading these here, to match what I've just been asked to send to some combination of Olympus technical support and the repair facility in New Jersey. i figure if it has a clarifying effect for them, it can't help to establish the issue more clearly here as well. https://we.tl/t-OJlOfgLdXS?utm_cam...

Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
Thanks all for the continued replies. I wanted to update to mention that the response so far from US Imaging Services (OM Systems' sole repair provider in the US) has not inspired confidence. In addition to apparently failing to review any of the supplemental materials provided with my repair reques...

Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
As of tomorrow morning, I will be shipping both the 90mm and the E-M1X off to Olympus' third party in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair facility, US Imaging in Hackensack, NJ. I spoke to a man there named Ernie on the phone today, having just filled out a repair request form, and will await word b...

Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
I use a Lumix G9 for stacking. This camera has two different sequences for shooting the stack. One of these sequences moves the focus position closer and farther away from the initial position of the stack. The second sequence moves the focus position farther away from the initial position as the s...

Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
I see your comment that "exposures taken outside of the focus bracketing mode do not suffer from this problem whatsoever". But just to confirm, does that mean that if you shoot a stack, then separately shoot a few single shots of the same subject, the frames from the stack are bad in comparison? th...

Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
Hello PM/AM, I come to you at the end of a long, frustrating, confusing, and expensive saga. From the day I unboxed by brand new M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO to use with my new used OM-D E-M1X, it has suffered from some strange and dramatic focal aberration issue that occurs only at the margins, ...

WTB/ISO: Olympus SPlanApo 40x Objective
Greetings PM/AM, I recently purchased a set of Olympus SPlanApo objectives (4x, 10x, 20x & 40x) to go with my existing 100x, and replace my SPlans in the same lower magnifications. It turns out that the 40x suffers from some fatal flaw, diagnosed by Frank Fisk of Biological Industrial Microscope Rep...

WTB: Köhler 1000x Brightfield Microscope for Mycology
Hello PM/AM, I am looking to help a friend purchase a Köhler illumination- and 1000x -capable microscope on a budget, for use in the brightfield examination of fungal tissues. I recently helped set another friend up with a BHS rig quite like my own (who will be creating and account here and introduc...

FS: Canon 65mm f/2.8 1-5x MP-E Macro Lens
Upon selling the lens located at this link: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=40574 I subsequently went out and purchased another. It is now time to let that one go as well. I'm currently entertaining an offer over at Fred Miranda for it, but wanted to advertise it here as ...

WTB: Zeiss Standard w/ 100x Oil Objective
Hello PM/AM, As a follow-up to this thread: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=46544&p=291715#p291715 I am searching for a Zeiss Standard scope with a 100x oil obective (along with 4x 10x & 40x dry objectives), preferably in black, and preferably with a carrying case. I'm to...

Re: 100x on a Swift M2/M3
Thanks, both, for your replies. What about something like this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/225730951906 or this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/386112949933 I expect that these are not (as you, PeteM, suggested) Zeiss Standards, but something older. The first one does, however, look precisely like the scope...

Re: 100x on a Swift M2/M3
If you really need high-power, high-NA capability in the field - then seek a convenient way to carry and use a (small) regular microscope instead. There are infinitely more viable options to explore down that route. I guess I wasn't aware of the semantic separation between the two, but yes, this is...

Re: 100x on a Swift M2/M3
Thanks for your reply Beatsy. Perhaps it's worth considering another make and model, as many of the features we need to observe are only visible at 100x. Surely there must be another LED-powered field scope out there with this magnification ability...
