I got out a while today, still not enough bugs and stuff,so back to the mineral mine. I never get tired of shooting minerals. These photos are made with 55mm Micro Nikkor ,reversed lens on PB4 Nikon bellows. The minerals are Chalcopyrite on a Dolomite matrix. Cleaning overnight in Iron Out really br...

Bill, did you get to go to The gem & mineral show in Tucson? I know somebody said they were going. My old boss used to go every year and spend $50,000.00 on Rocks & minerals and beads for the science & nature store. He always left me to work the store while he was gone for three weeks buying. The r...

It was snowing today all over the Metroplex, so I went back to my mineral collection for more fun stuff. All photos were stacked with Helicon Focus. Rasberry Garnet and Wulfinite were taken with 70mm Macro with 5T nikon close up filter. The Zircon with Zeiss 40mm Luminar Obj. I hope you enjoy. Bill ...

I have seen the purple Flourite before in clumps & clusters, but your specimen with one large crystal (plus a small one) in a great looking matrix (what is that?) is stunningly beautiful and gold always makes my jaw drop. Beautiful photos Bill. I'm not sure about the matrix on the flourite,I though...

A few Minerals

I've been having a lot of fun stuff with a new 4x5 Poloroid bellows converted to take my D200 and any other lens set up I can dream up. Works great with microscope objectives ,enlarger lens, etc. it: very sturdy for stacking photos. VANADINITE http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/228_vana_11...

I was taking this swallowtails photo and waiting on closer shots. Then it flew right into the orb spiders web. As you can see in the photo's the swallowtail was old and shopworn, but what a way to go. Nikon D200,150 Sigma macro,1.4 Sigma TC,SB800 http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/228_SWA...

I do not know names yet and thats my next task, finding a good ID book for dragonflies and damselflies.
