Thanks, Harald. Boric Acid did not cross-polarize, so I decided to explore the crystaline structure by feathering the darkfield stop on another scope.

All of these are stitches, which accounts for the Panavision. Sometimes the structure of the crystals can be best expressed with a stitch.

Thanks. During the winter when the ponds are frozen, it's nice to have chemicals around. Often I air dry chemicals, but then I may put the slides on a gravy warmer to force the crystalization, which was the case with Sodium carbonate.
