Re: Loss of Robert OToole
I am shocked and sad to hear of the loss to his family and to our world of interest.
Personally speaking he was always there generously to help, advise and share and as Chris says to be my friend and forwarding agent in case of need.
RIP dear Robert.
Kind Regards, John

Re: Glut of Rodenstock Apo Rodagon D 2x
Hi Ray
I was curious about the reference you made about a modular focus unit with the lens so I ran a search.
I think that I found an example but could not be sure what the mount actually was but then I noticed “out of stock” !!

Sadly even following Rik’s tip and on the Amazon US site not available to me in the uk.
Can’t even find any reference to publisher on a Google search to try to go direct.
If anyone in the uk can get a purchase link please do update this thread.
Thanks , John

Re: A Canon MPE-65 alternative?
On the camera, the lens was mounted in a barrel 3 cm long which had a 37 mm diam thread on the far end. The barrel simply unscrewed from the camera body. Just screwed this into a Nikon SLR lens mount that had a 37 mm female thread. Actually, it was a very slightly loose fit, just added one layer of...

Re: A Canon MPE-65 alternative?
I wanted to see how my recently-aquired Leitz 0.32:1 microscope relay lens (about $300.0 ebay) stacked up against Canon's MPE-65 ($1,000.00). The Leitz lens on a Nikon D7200 gave a decent image, you can see the fine grooves at the base of the proboscis. Hello, What was your mounting method please? ...

Re: Insect on top of glass stage
Here's my setup - The pill bottles and film canisters are glued onto the glass with an adhesive called GOOP (which I strongly recommend just on general principles - nice stuff to have around). I Mike Hi Mike I took a look for GOOP on my local Amazon and found that there is a big range. Which do you...

Re: Best Lens/Accessory Option to Achieve 1.5-2:1 Magnification with Micro Four Thirds?
Hi Lou Could I ask please which reversed lenses you use give you the best results with the zoom you referred to earlier? Thanks, John John, Sure, here is what worked well for me, organized by field of view, from 5x to 1x. Step sizes for auto-bracketing refer to Oly PEN-F cameras; Panasonic G9 step ...

Re: Best Lens/Accessory Option to Achieve 1.5-2:1 Magnification with Micro Four Thirds?
[quote="Lou Jost" I do up to 5x automatic focus bracketing in the field with the zoom + reversed lens. Not easy, but the only way to go for some subjects. Optical quality is very good. Hi Lou Could I ask please which reversed lenses you use give you the best results with the zoom you referred to ear...
