Re: 10X infinite objective help

OK - that requires decent working distances. The 10x Mitutoyo in the buy/sell forum should work well, but you may consider it too pricey. I'm not sure about other good choices in that magnification.

Re: 10X infinite objective help

Do you need working distance or not? In other words - what are you going to photograph and what is the intended light setup?

Re: amscope 4x aliexpress alternatives?

I know you wrote "as high resolution as I can get", but is that really true? Adding magnification and number of tiles will increase resolution, but it will also increase the number of images fast if you want to image the whole object with that resolution. It seems to me it would be better to set som...

Re: software for adding photos

An easy try is Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor). It is particularly good for the price.

Re: amscope 4x aliexpress alternatives?

The part with the 3D printer seems theoretically possible, but how would you control the printer movement? The normal software likely would not work for this. The problem with the miniature sensor is the pixel size. It is 1.55 um. I don't have NA for the Amtech at hand, but for LOMO 3.7x NA 0.11 you...

Re: Wemacro Micromate questions

JKT, I do use it with that objective. But it is useful for a much wider range of objectives. It is important to remember that if 200mm tube lenses are the normal choices for APS cameras, then the 300mm should be the normal tube lens on FF. It will give you the same field of view on FF that the 200m...

Re: Wemacro Micromate questions

Interesting proposition. I had pictured it with Nikon Plan Apo 20x/.75.

...it can hold very large tube lenses like the 300mm Canon f/2.8 in the picture.
So that's what it was. Maybe I should try the FDn 500mm f/4.5 one day. :D Might be a bit much for vertical StackShot, though.

Re: Two wrongs can make a right

Then there's ImageMagick, which is made for scripting. Combine that with VB, PowerShell or even good old CMD and this should be relatively simple. You do the file selection outside ImageMagick and just pass the filenames as parameters in the call.

Re: Mitutoyo M Plan APO 5x (unused)

If you can get it for that price, I'd be interested to take one. Not that 500 would be too high, but with Mitutoyos there is always a risk.

Thanks for that.....but.... all Day! #-o
I did test shots with different lens combinations for about half a day. When I was finally ready and wrapping everything up I noticed that only two of the three flashes were turned on.

It is also so much easier to see the image on-screen constantly instead of playing with mirror lock-up.

Quick comparison of Canon EF 1.4x II & RF 1.4x

I did a quick comparison between the two Canon extenders. I had given up the first one for stacking due to the barrel distortion and now I wanted to know whether there was noticeable difference between the two ... and there certainly was. The absurd barrel distortion dropped to about a quarter of th...
