The charity promotes gardening for wildlife in the UK, I run the comms side. It's just to make a nice informative po...

Some things worth mentioning about a macro tripod, you'll want something that can help you shoot very low down to the ground, has a good 'base' (ie stays constant due to weight in a stack), is reasonably quick to set up and I've always found it useful to have something that has a bit more positional...

Interesting!! Reminds me of the silica foam that's was used on the Space Shuttle tiles. There was an old video of a 2" cube that was heated red hot and picked up by the corners with bare fingers (no gloves). The thermal resistance of the foam was so high that it couldn't deliver enough heat to the ...

Not really, in terms of comprehensive advanced info that's the one to get. Lots of other macro books out there that might be pretty but tend to be geared towards beginners, but nothing quite hits the spot for what we do as Savazzi's tome :)

Same as other replies - depends what you're shooting. For example butterfly wings are easier when they lie down and you shoot from above :)

What's the mirrorless winner - need your help please!

Hi, I was hoping to canvass as wide a possible opinion base on which brand/model looks like it's winning the race to become THE mirrorless leader of the next 5/10 years. Investing in a new/unknown system is a big investment and I'd like to make sure I get it right for the medium term. If you could a...
