It's historically called a flare spot, these days more commonly called a hotspot. I suspect it's exacerbated by digital sensors where the flat glass on the sensor reflects light back into the lens. In any case. it's very common and TBH I see this quite a lot with various enlarging lenses and some ta...

I've done lots of close up and close to 1:1, but not greater than 1:1, with tilt using a view camera (Sinar with DSLR) and tilt bellows (Nikon PB-4) and Mirex tilt/shift adapter for Mamiya M645. Frankly, tilt is best suited to two dimensional subjects and as soon as there is a third dimension then t...

Hi Ray Too bad you're not in Oz as I have 5 of the lenses in your 'want list', but shipping to US is not an option. There is also a Durst Neonon 5.6/80 (6E-4G, possibly made by Pentax but unconfirmed) and a Computar dL 4.5/80, both of which are on Evilbay at present. Computars are notorious for sepa...

Yes. Fungus.

It also significantly devalues a lens, regardless of it's affect on performance.

...For tilt and shift work I use the Mamiya 645 Tilt Shift Bellows( also has some parts that are interchangeable with the minolta). Its rigid and strong. With the Mirex adapter that bellows turns into a mini view camera. The big issue was mounting lenses and it was easily solved. I obtained with th...

I'm assuming the OP wants an adapter to fit M42x1.0, if not then ignore the rest. To confuse matters further note that extraordinarily few Ebay sellers state the pitch of these adapters because they normally adapt from one filter thread to another, so are typically 0.75 pitch or even 0.5. M42 is act...

I don't know, but! 'The Big List of Enlarging Lenses' ( http://photocornucopia.com/1061.html ) shows many Rodenstock enlarging lenses with an M50 thread and they are all 50x0.75. Not one of them is 50x1.0. The Gerogon is presumably an engraving/process lens, is that right? They might use different t...

Some of the less common, supposedly "good" ones would be interesting, eg Computar DL, Fujinon... I have the Computar dL 2.8/50 (and have hardly used it) but not the 1.9. I haven't seen any 1.9/50's for sale that do not have delamination/separation problems so I don't think I would ever buy one exce...

It came with the lens, which is of course quite old (80's). It was on a flange with "35" marked on it which looks like one which would go on an enlarger, but could I guess have been some sort of camera. I'll snap the flange later. Unless you find some document that states that this 'hood' is specif...

Re: Enlarger lens hood

Why would anyone want a hood on an enlarger lens? http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/671_35_hood_1.jpg The only light source in my darkroom was a luminous sundial. Where did that hood(?) come from and is it actually a lens hood for that lens or does it just happen to fit it? I've never s...

Enlarging lenses are generally very easy to dismantle to clean depending on the lens and extent of the fungus. You are much better off having a go at cleaning it yourself as you really have nothing to loose. If you pay someone you might pay more than it would cost to replace the lens! I don't have a...

There's also a dramatic difference in contrast as the lens is stopped down, it's quite visible in the images you've posted. Contrast x resolution = 'sharpness'. I don't know that you can tell any more from the 100% crop that you have posted but a 100% crop from the edge , or possibly even between th...
