Re: Small backlit stage
Ray I have one that I bought for £55 in 2015, 100mm diameter, illuminated area 60mm, but I cannot find it on eBay now. The auction title was "Transmitted LED Plate for OLYMPUS stereo microscope stand" These might be of some use: https://www.ebay.com/itm/141110266605 https://www.ebay.com/itm/17198143...

Re: BX41 focus assembly
I have a PDF of the BX41 Frame Repair Manual, but it does not contain anything about the focus mechanism. I have a PDF of the BX51 / BX52 Frame Repair Manual that has some illustrations and notes about the focus mechanism, but I do not know if it is similar to the BX41. Let me know if you would like...

A modern practitioner, Klaus Kemp, sadly passed away in 2022. He was a regular exhibitor at microscope club meetings in Langton Matravers and Reading, where he showed the equipment that he used and let us try arranging diatoms. You can see some of his work in a Google search: https://www.google.com/...

According to my table of Olympus objective designations, your LWD MPlan lens is corrected for a 210 mm tube length.

Re: Affordable options to mount Nikon on Olympus SZ61
The vertical tube on the Olympus SZ61TR was designed for attaching a DP12 camera which has a 1/1.8 sensor; I think this is about 9mm diagonal. sz61.jpg This is much smaller than a Micro 4/3 sensor, 22.5 mm diagonal, so I don't think you could attach a digital SLR or mirrorless camera unless you use ...

Re: what kind of filter could it be?
45 mm is the diameter of filters that fit the light output on the base of several Olympus microscopes. I have a real Olympus A-POL linear polariser and also a look-alike that does not have a name on it and that is very similar to yours. olympus-polariser-analyser-700.jpg Olympus A-POL polariser (lef...

There are two microscope clubs in East Anglia where you would get a warm welcome and lots of advice, the Anglian Microscopy Group and the Iceni Microscopy Study Group.

If anyone wants to compile a list of the BX-era UIS and UIS2 objectives, I have a couple of PDFs of catalogues with lots of information to get you started.
Here is an explanation of the abbreviations on Olympus objectives:

The Olympus infinity-corrected objectives that require compensating eyepieces are from the BH-2 era. Bright field (RMS): MA, MDPlan, MSPlan and MSPlanApo Dark field (26 mm): Neo DPlan and Neo SPlan As far as I know, all other Olympus infinity-corrected objectives are from the BX era and do not requi...

Nigel Williams is slowly selling Klaus Kemp's slide collection, with all proceeds going to Klaus's family.
He is also selling them at occasional meetings in England, see for example at the end of this page:

Bradford is not far from Leeds, so perhaps you could take the items to a meeting of the Leeds Microscopical Society, where someone might be able to help.
