I had mine made at SRB Griturn and it worked out well. I don't remember the cost, but it was in the double digits and they had experience doing those, so it was a breeze and the resulting ring fits well.

Naturally any competenet mechanics shop can make such and adapter, price may vary though.

I use CS6 on a new system, it's pretty good, I like the current interface. I can't see why one would want to buy an older version unless there were significant savings involved. I use the Adobe Cloud subscription model -- costs something like 20 euros a month and works well. In my country, a new PS ...

I didn't realize that lens had a 52mm thread... no problem, there are plenty (probably more) Nikon reversing rings available with a 52mm thread. (Search Nikon reverse adapter on ebay). 52 mm was actually the standard Nikon filter diameter in the past, so accessories are widely available. The offici...

Topic: Fresnel lens as a macro flash add-on?

I see... a lens could of course be used to spread out the light, but at some point some diffuser is needed. But it shouldn't be impossible or anything; the area of the light source doesn't need to be that big if it's close to the subject, but some sort of distance between the flash bulb and final di...

A fresnel lens can definitely be used to modify the path of the light in the flash. Many flashes contain some sort of wide-angle diffuser, which while not usually a fresnel lens per se, does borrow the principle to diffuse the light. That said, I'm not sure what you wish to accomplish. As I understa...

Yes, LED is the most interesting at this point. color rendering has been improving and the latest generation can output a lot of light.

The preorder price is $699 or $799 with lens, in Europe convert to euros with a 1:1 conversion and add a bit on top. The tilting screen should be a nice feature, along with high res EVF. I wouldn't be completely surprised at some sort of flash crippling, as my impression is that Panasonic doesn't fu...

Based on the spec, it would make a great lens to stick on a medium-format camera. I'm having visions of stacking at 10X on a Hasselblad H4D-200MS camera, covering an area that's only 3.7x4.9 mm with 200 megapixels. OK, that might be going a bit far, but even the 50 megapixel version would still be ...

Thanks Oskar! No vibration sensitivity was not on my list of concerns. On the contrary – given the lack of a mirror and the presence of EFCS there is no source of vibrations left to worry about. :) NEX 3 doesn't have EFCS? I have not come across it and some sources on the net claim that it's only i...

Well, is supposed to be 600$ body only and the EF adapter is half the price of the metabones; moreover the compatibility with canon flashes is a plus I never use the viewfinder when doing macro, apart from reviewing the pictures like John says in his NEX-7 review I do not see any extra benefits mac...

Interesting review. I have a Nex 3 that I've modified for IR/UV work and a Panasonic GF1 as a walkaround camera. The Nex permits moving around in magnified liveview mode, I would assume this functionality is also present on the Nex 7. The Nex 3 is very lightweight and not mechanically strong, I worr...

Besides, I can kind of see these focusing motors working on our team some day... It's an interesting idea...IIRC, the Canon 40/2.8 had a stepper motor instead of an ultrasonic one? I didn't think about the distinction from a macro perspective before, but it obviously opens up pretty interesting pos...

I guess AF will be as bad as on the Fuji X100 and most other mirrorless; the thing that really anoyed me was that MF was even worse. I really cannot agree that most mirrorless would have poor AF. Panasonic had very good AF already in the GF1. Olympus seems to have very good Af in the new E-m5 (I on...

I'd say 3-6 weeks to Europe, could be more if you live in a country where "things work more slowly" :-) Please also realize that things get lost in the mail -- I had a Mitutoyo lost in the mail last year with the Express service, it never left the US. Not trying to scare anyone, just remember that t...
