On the vertical course of stretchers where the wall adjoins the ceiling, it looks as if there could be some efflorescence there, patchy creamy coloured effect. ChrisR made the comment that if you wash the salts off with water, that they keep coming back. This is because the salts dissolve in the wat...

And thanks ChrisR for your suggestions. I have Componon 50mm and 80mm enlarging lenses, but they are old ones dating back to the mid-late 60s. I also have the EL Nikkor 50mm f2.8 enlarger lens which give very reasonable results. I missed out on a Rodagon 135mm which went a few weeks ago for about A$...

Thanks Troels. I apologize for not having thanked you before, I certainly wrote a note, but obviously didn't hit the 'submit' button hard enough. I have Johan's excellent site, and have looked at the article many times, but I thought I had seen a post on this site as well. No worries, I have found e...

Recommendations for use of enlarger lenses
I am sure that I have seen a post where the merits of various enlarger lenses are debated, but after about an hour of looking, I cannot find it.
Can any helpful member please direct me to the link? If so, I would be most grateful.
Many thanks, and so to bed.

Hi Rik, Charles and Chris S, thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. Apologies for the tardy reply, but we have had guests, and twice spent the day away from home. One of the trips was to collect a sample of the Tru Vue - UltraVue Glass, which I understand is more reasonably priced than the Mus...

Thank you Chris S, as well as Chris R., Pau, and Lou for your comments and suggestions. I have today procured a small sample of etched glass, which is used for non reflective picture framing and have taken some shots of 'bush samples' of grass, ie growing wild, with a similar blade length to my real...

G'day Chris, Thanks for your suggestions. In fact, it is something I have considered, especially as a friend who has a framing business was saying just the other day that she has a new 'wonder glass' that gives virtually no reflection, yet still allows pictures to have the vibrancy that the older no...

Preventing leaf curl for macro photography
I am presently taking shots of leaves, mostly grasses, to illustrate various plant diseases. In many instances, the grass leaves 'roll up' either on the plant, or after they have been picked and taken to the studio for imaging. My current method involves trying to flatten them, and press them, prior...

Some Technical Advice
I have been observing from the sidelines for some time, but have only recently sourced a serious microscope, a 2nd-hand Meiji ML 2000, which appears to be in good order, with 4, 10, 40 and 100x SM Plan eyepieces, and I am eager to try it out, and learn how to use it properly. The other day, I was ea...
