Re: Worm With Spider (Caution: not for the squeamish!)
This is a horsehair worm that I recovered from inside of a Jerusalem Cricket several years ago. I ended up sending it to a university in Arizona who studies these things. They sent me a kit to preserve it and mail it to them. The logo for their lab was a profile of a cricket with a spiral coming out...

Parasites
My daughter is doing a science fair project comparing the genomes of insects collected in a nature reserve (with permission) with insects collected at a site with lots of human impact. Part of the project is getting an ID (down to Order) for the insects. When IDing some of the specimens under a diss...

Velvet Ant
This is a stack of a velvet ant which is actually a wingless wasp. This one was small compared to others I've seen (~8 mm). It was a quick stack without any posing or cleaning. It is pinned in position now and I'll probably do another stack after cleaning. This is a stack of 82 images taken with a C...

Ladybug Pupa
This is my first stack in over a year. Here's a Zerene stack of 54 images of a ladybug pupa on a leaf. It's about 3x, slight cropping and a little clean up and color adjustment in PS. Images are taken with a Canon T3i with an MPE65. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1112_LadybugPupaS_1.j...

Colorful Spider
Although the prep was terrible, I just wanted to see this spider up close. Very cool colors and textures. This is 97 images shot with an MPE65 at about 3X and cropped a little. The stack was Zerene PMAX and photoshop used to crop and auto tone. I might try to pose it better and re-shoot. What kind o...

Unk. Spider
This spider has a pattern similar to a black widow on its abdomen, but it's brown. Any ideas what type of spider it is? It was captured in Southern California. This is a stack of about 53 images in Zerene with MPE65, T3i, and stackshot set at .08 mm. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/111...
