Nikon CF (Infinite pre-CFI) tube lens location?

Post by JohnyM »

Hello!
I've seen CF Plan objectives on:
-E600 FN ( lens in trinocular 100% )
-ME600 ( lens in trinocular 100% )
-Optiphots 100 and 150 ( lens ??? )
-Dedicated workstations ; Optiphot 200, Optiphot 300, Optistations that uses same binoculars as 100 / 150 but im not interested with them.

When they moved from finite (Optiphot 66 and 88) to infinite (100, 150) they've also changed epi illuminators to U-EPI-10 and different style trinocular heads with most commonly seen tilting trinocular.

Problem is:
-I've seen those "new" Optiphots with both new and old finite trinoculars.
-I've also seen "new" tilting trinoculars on finite scopes.
-They are still using 160mm CFN eyepieces on Optiphots (200 mm tube lens)
-They are using CFI 200mm eyepieces on ME600

One explanation could be:
New binoculars are simple 160mm finite with just refreshed look. Tube lens is located in new style U-EPI-10 in a way, that when mounted, it still provides extra 40mm extension to make up for 160mm binocular.
Other explanation could be:
Items are mishmashed when sold on ebay or by resale agents. But i've seen all those combinations more than once.

Lack of information on epi scopes from that era makes it difficuilt for me to find that info.

Anyone knows an answer to that? Maybe someone here owns universal epi illuminator or trinocular, or whole scope and could check that?
