The same rusty tweezers, this time with illumination by two Amazon Basics flashes and modified diffusion (nested cutoff foam cups attached directly to the objective).

Ah, time to introduce some Sorbothane to your new table, maybe. Could be it's so stiff it transmits vibrations.
There's lost of stuff to look up for Sorbothane..

There's sorbothane under the camera mount.

If you look at the subsequent picture of the insect, it's much sharper. I slowed the shutter speed way down and that vastly improved the sharpness.

Ah ok I was just looking at the rust.. Shutter shake, then, yes?

Apparently.

I'm still learning how to work with objectives. I've just gotten the diffusion down to a reasonable level.
