Depending on your source, there are anywhere from 50 to 85 species of Myriophyllum.

ID correction

Post by Olympusman »

Our neighbor's daughter is a botanist and gave me the correct ID for this plant. It is Yellow Nutsedge Cyperus esculentis. The tubers of the plant are edible.

We have a plant like that trying to take over various areas of our garden. The seed heads have much shorter and wider "spikes" than yours though. Common name is Galingale. Nice capture - it's one I've always found hard to photograph. But it's entirely my fault for always getting in too close :)
