New to macro

Post by tahder8 »

Hello everybody
I would like to go pass bellows and macro lenses and add microscope lens to Nikon camera
What component do I need between camera and microscope lens and what lens in a range 4x -10x would you recommend
I was looking for same info and found this 4x lens and connect directly to a camera - its not microscope lens but i think will do what i want for 4x
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zhongyi-Mitakon ... YK0erNgd1g

but what about if i wan to do different lenses i need camera adapter and microscope lens adapter but can not locate correct items or names :) for it

Thanks in advance

Welcome tahder8!

The first place to look is the FAQ section.
You will find FAQ: How can I hook a microscope objective to my camera?

That will answer some questions. Some objectives are in the "Where to buy..." FAQ.

I wouldn't recomment that 4.5x macro lens particularly.
It does depend what you may have already.

Thanks i located required connectors on ebay
Now all i need is microscope objective
I am planing to hook everything to Nikon bellows and D750
I have 60mm and 105 mm macro lens in addition to bellows and few stack rails ( micrometer adjusting and one with digital scale )

You'll need something longer than 105mmas a "tube" lens. Thre are some good 135mm lenses (used) which will (just) cover full frame with the right objective, so 200mm may suit you better.

Be aware that the first shutter curtain of a D750 is likely to cause vibration issues, to be dealt with.

Sure that's OK, for finite objectives.
For 4x this one does a job: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=34277

A Nikon Mplan 10x NA 0.25 210mm is the obvious one to try (<<$100). I have it but can't remember - I think it must be OK because I started with a D700.
I can't remember reading of a good newer 10x which covers 24x36 well, others may.
Often it doesn't matter too much if the corners of the frame soften.

I also have Fuji X-t2 but no bellows or macro lenses for it
I ordered 4x lens and will see how this work
If i like what i see than i will look for 10x lens and other components if needed
Thanks for your help

one more question
I ordered microscope lens and adapter to mount it to a camera but it looks like there is few different threads standards although each say its DIN standard on components I purchased

Any suggestion what is wrong since they do not match

That's mad!
They both say they're RMS (Royal Microscope Society) threads.

Specification is in the FAQ post on threads.
