Diatoms from Barbados
Hello everybody,
Barbados is famous for his radiolarias, but in this fossil samples there are some very nice and rare diatoms too.
Here three examples in different illumination, DIC, Phasecontrast and Darkfield.
Asterolampra insignis A. Schmidt 1888
Triceratium venosum
Coscinodiscus oblongus Greville

Nice Photos of Diatoms
Nice photography.
Thank you all for your comments!
Steve, it is not unique for Barbados, you can also find it in samples for example from Oamaru. But I am not 100% sure if it is A. insignis, looks a little bit different.
In my Barbados samples they are characteristic for the sample together with Coscinodiscus oblongus Greville.
