Looks like I'm somewhere closer.
Pictures below are taken using two different retarders together (cellophane)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I'm curious why the 3D printed part says Nikon. Did you scan the original object in some way to create a copy of it?

No, it was just a simple designing/printing exercise - found this Nikon logo on the Thingiverse and added to my design

. Latest model does not have it ...

Saul, if I didn't already tell you via PM I use these Edmund film retarders. The worked perfect for me. They were inexpensive too.
