Old APO enlarger lens

Post by Howard Mayo »

Lately Ive been trying to put an old 50mm APO enlarger lens to use.
Here are a few results.
If anything, I've learned not to take auto aperture control for granted any more.

These look nice. You can control depth of field by stacking, for stationary subjects. What lens is this? Do the pictures look sharp when zoomed in?

Thanks Lou!

Yeah your right, might have to use tripod and focus rail to get the most out of this lens.
Bought it back in the mid 80's when darkroom photography was a hobby of mine. It's a Rodenstock Apo-Rodagon 1:2.8 f=50mm.
Mostly i enjoy the freedom of shooting hand held, but lately have been using a monopod.

here's a 100% crop of spider

and another shot that i thought decent

Looks pretty good, thanks for posting the enlargements. I think the pictures could use a bit more depth of field, but you are right that stacking takes away much freedom in the field.
