Harvestman legs

Post by Olympusman »

Darkfield. I ripped the legs off a dead Harvestman, laid down a field of mountant on a slide and sprinkled the legs nto the mountant. Then added another layer of mountant and pressed a coverslip on the whole catastrophe.

I might add, that when a Harvestman expires, it has the good taste to curl its legs up.

Very interesting! I had no idea that their legs have so many segments.

But now I see at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvestman_anatomy#Legs
While the metatarsus is undivided, the tarsus can consist of three to over one hundred tarsomeres.
