Wemacro Control Box Placement?

Post by Deanimator »

Just a casual question while I'm finishing up my table build.

Where to people put their Wemacro control boxes, and how do you keep them in place?

The box doesn't have any mounting holes or brackets.

Plan to stop at Home Depot on the way to work tonight and pick up some velcro. I'm going to tie up the power and data cables and attach them to the table to keep them out of the way.

I'm going to see if I can velcro the box to the bottom of the table to keep it out of the way.

If that turns out not to be secure enough, I'll have to try to build some kind of bracket, probable from formed sheet metal. An alternative is to build a small shelf for it.

Mine just sits at the back of the table but not on the sorbothane-isolated slab and metal plate that the rig is bolted too. Never measured it, but concerned that loud clunky relay noise it makes may induce vibration. I really wish it didn't do that.

Sits on a light stand held on with rubber bands, same stand holds one of the light strobes.

Magnets will work better than Velcro :D

Not sure if magnets could interfere with the shutter activation mechanism of the controller. Velcro or rubber band will work for sure. I would avoid setups preventing heat dissipation as the device gets warm when in use.
Mine just rests on the table because I don't use a dedicated table.

Studio case is hanging on the vertical 8020 pole from the back side.

I just got everything attached and tied up.

I mounted the control box under the table top with high strength velcro.

I should be able to start using it tomorrow or Saturday.

I keep mine on the table, but NOT on the Sorbothane-isolated granite slab where the camera and subjects sit.
